How can a resident of the Bahamas obtain a Visa to live in the U.S. for awhile? What do u have to do or have?

to get a Visa? I basically know but want to make sure what I know is correct. Thank you.

Apply for a tourist visa at the US Embassy in Bahamas since the stay is only for awhile.
