Do You Shut Him OUT?

or

Do you go into PRAYER?

Not helping him get through this, Is the right thing to do. Please don't misunderstand, he needs to be punished. But as a Christian, Am I TRULY my brother's KEEPER. Do I pray that he realizes the error here and he repents and returns to God's good graces. Or do I push him away, judge him and leave him to fight this alone.

I do not believe you should shut him out. I would communicate that you do not condone what was done. Christ Jesus works through us through the power of the Holy Spirit. Our lives should be a living epistle.

I would focus prayer for him to:

Gain understanding regarding the situation
Give you insight and wisdom as to what to say and when to say it.

If the person has committed murder, they must be turned in. According to Scripture, this is a "sin unto death", and we are advised, in 1John 5, not to pray for those who have committed such a sin. It's between them and the Father from that point on, and your prayers will make no difference, so help those who can be helped. You shouldn't judge him, or anyone for that matter, but he has crossed the line and must now face the music.

I would pray for them, be a real friend and share Christ with them. Pray as you have said, that they see their error, repent and return to God. This would not be a time to abandon your friend. True, murder is wrong and the friend would need to go to jail. But they would need all the prayer they can get.

Thou shalt not kill. Thou shall not be angry with thy brother without a cause. Render unto Cesar that which is Cesar's. And the soldier's asked what shall we do. What ye bind on earth is bound in heaven. You shall be cast into prison until the last fathing is paid. Those who live by the sword. Fear them which can kill both body and soul. Worry not about your body. Judge not lest you be judged. Love thy neighbor as yourself. If you keep my commandments. Build your house upon a rock. Take it to the church.

When I face a situation such as this, all the words Jesus ever spoke come to mind. What is Jesus telling me. Jesus said without Him, My Father, I can do nothing.

At this time I would share the Words Jesus spoke unto me and put the matter into God's hands, I trust in God that He will show me the way and him also, for we are both in need of help.

I turn him in and walk away. I have no interest in feeling sorry for or staying friends with, a person who thinks so little of life that they could maim and kill another.
Would I pray for them? Nope. They need to find their own way on this one. I personally wouldn't care less. I have no personal interest in their salvation.
By the way, no, I'm not a fundalmentalist. I'm a realist. There are many out there who need and want help. Those I have no problem being there for. Those who think so little of others, I really can't be bothered.

What would Jesus do? Do you think Jesus would push him away or do you think that Jesus would befriend him and help him cope with the situation that he has gotten himself into?

I think he would do the latter, don't you?

If he has not turned himself in to the police, then the first thing you should do is counsel him that he do that on his own and that he should own up to what he did. If he will not, then you have to turn him in. But if you can still maintain your friendship, then you should. This is when your friend needs a Christian friend the most.

The only true prayer is, "Thy WILL be done!" As a Christian, you need only follow the footsteps of your Master. He took His message to the sick for the well needs no doctor. He also taught to Love and forgive our enemies. A friend that has fallen is not an enemy.

Conscience....... Is there evidence of true repentance.
Almighty God will be the judge of us all.Good to know and understand the Bible well and as you say Pray. Can this one be encouraged to turn himself in? If not it's true the Bible does say to go to the authorities.Hard to be a true friend and do the right thing.A minister of God may help you to make the right decision as well.

if you wish to pray, by all means pray. but remember that this is a selfish act: you are doing it for you.

if your friend has killed someone then she needs to make good that damage before she (or anyone) can even consider moving on. clearly you have to hand her over to the appropriate authorities. if you then choose to stay in touch to help her (or better still her victim) that is your choice.

but it is not your choice to offer 'forgiveness'. that belongs only to those who have been hurt.

If they are a friend, and you are a true friend, you'd be there for them. You would never judge them. Don't use religion as an excuse to throw away your friends when they need you.
