Remember how Jesus made whips out of ropes and chaced the money-changers out of the temple, hollering "Stop making my Father's house into a den of theives!"?
Well, He's not around any more physically to do the chasing out of the scoundrels out of churches, so we should be doing it for Him.
Pointing out their sinful behavior like you did is one of the ways to do that.

The problem is that people have differing ideas of what truth is. There is actually a lot of ambiguity in the Bible. Romans 10 makes salvation sound quite simple, but you brought up Mark 14 and someone else brings up Luke 6:37 or James 2:26. The seem to be contradictory. Some of these things we need to ask if they are actually referring to salvation, or some other thing, and if so, what? And, the first two guys in Mark 14, did they actually get saved before the Word was plucked out, or had that not happened yet?
I think God did it this way for a reason. If it was too easy to understand we wouldn't be so driven to seek him for the answers. The problem is that many of us still don't. We just rely on our own understanding.

Amen! The truth and ONLY truth is what should be preached. Politics, money, etc., should never be allowed to get in the way, because that would be putting man-made obstacles in front of God.
A friend of mine once pointed out an interesting fact. Most protestant churches require 10% from their members to stay afloat, and they have to be careful many times about what they preach lest they anger certain people and run them off, which means the gospel gets watered down.
At the Catholic Church, there is no 10% requirement, and the priests are mandated to preach the gospel, truthfully and entirely. Amazingly, contributions flourish, and people fill the pews.
The truth is what people need. The truth is what saves. The second we leave that, we leave Jesus.
God bless.

Do you know what I love about Judaism (the religion of Jesus)?
It is the fact that Judaism is the only religion that teaches where, in order to be welcome into the Kingdom of Heaven, you DON'T have to be Jewish, or Christian, or Hindu or a believer/follower of ANY faith, so long as you try to be a good person, here on Earth.
That's right!
No need to be a member of any special elite club.
All you and I have to do is help our neighbors, those less fortunate.
Avoid evil, do good.
So...this would include the atheists, the agnostics and all the other people who choose NOT to follow some "ism".
We're ALL "saved", so long as we show love and reverence for those people and things that God created.
Hows that "truth" for ya?

To become truly saved you simply have to ask Jesus into your heart, confess of your sins to Him, and believe that He died on the cross to save your sins. Baptism isn't a requirement for salvation, it is just a way of professing your faith publicly. Once you become saved you CANNOT lose that. Read Romans 9:38-39. It says that nothing (from the angels in heaven to the demons in hell) are able to take us away from God's love.
Also, we cannot become saved by our own good deeds. Read Romans 3:23 and Romans 3:27-28. No matter what we do, we cannot reach God's standard. In order to meet His standard, we must become perfect, and sin-less, but because of our sinful nature, that is impossible. The only way we can go to heaven is through Jesus Christ. He said "I Am the way, the truth, and the life, no one goes to the Father except by me." He made the way by becoming the perfect sacrifice. He took all of the world's sins and then He died by crucifixion ( sacrificing Himself for our sins) then rising 3 days later ( to show that He is God). So by only what He did on the cross, are we able to receive God's give of redemption and go to heaven.

I agree with you. Salvation is not just saying you believe in God, it takes action on our parts to continue in our salvation. We will all be judged according to our works, not if we just believe. Faith is great, but as the bible says, "Faith without works is dead". If we dont do the works that faith brings, how can we say we have faith?Or that we are saved for that matter. Our salvation is a work in progress.God will never take it from us, but if we do nothing about correcting our ways and loving our neighbor and doing the will of God, are we really being true to God, or to ourselves?

There is only ONE way. God Himself told the world what they need to do, no man, woman, or preacher can tell you. Accept Jesus Christ, the ONLY begotten Son of God. It's quite clear. Love the Son, for without going to the Son, you will never see God, the Father.

i'm thinking about converting to messianic judaism, actually. don't worry, i'll still be saved by the blood of the Lamb. i just think it seems like a much purer form of christianity than what we have now. of course, my mom thinks it's a cult. LOL
