My grandma recently passed away and I am caring for her 2 budgies. They keep chirping and driving my husband mad. Do they just chirp for no reason or do they want something? Is there anything I can do to tone them down a bit?

The birds are happy and communicating with each other. If you husband doesn't like the noise or the birds, you should consider finding a new home for them. It would be unfair to keep them covered up with a blanket as one person has suggested. You can also try keeping them in a room where he does not go but then again, that isn't really fair to the birds.

We have two budgies and they chirp all the time. I guess they are happy, and probably communicating. Could you put them in a different room so they do not bother your husband as much.
Our birds don't bother me at all with all their chirping. But my son is not always keen on hearing them. I guess we all have different tolerance levels for different things.
I don't think there is anything you could do to quieten them. Chirping is just what they do-all the time!! Birds are such tiny creatures but they sure make some noise. Maybe they just like to be heard.

They do it for no reason, other than that they are communicating, and feeling happy.
Mine do it all the time, even as they eating- that's just what birds do! I find it a cheerful sound so I don't mind. Birds are such bright, sweet little things- try and enjoy them, you can't make them quiet.
Putting a blanket over them won't help. Mine chirp more when I do that then the rest of the time- probably because they feel more secure.

That's just what they do when they're happy!!! Also having 2 they will chirp to communicate with eachother. You can quiet them down if you put a newspaper or tea towel over the cage so they think it's night time though!!!

They are chirping because they want Sky TV, beer and Pizzas. If you don't believe me, try it on your husband.
