Not sure if I heard this right, because I only caught parts of what they said, but this morning on the news they announced, that the majority of Michael Vicks dogs WILL BE SAVED!!! One was too aggressive and had to be put down, but they said, some of the others would be adopted out to new homes and some will be used in Law Enforcement. I just think it would be great if thats true, because it will give these poor dogs, another chance at having a good, happy life, with someone who will properly love and care for them? What do you think?

I do not ever see that happening. No dog that has been a fighter would be adopted out as it would be deemed to dangerous for the average person to own. As far as these dogs ending up in law enforcement, that is the biggest joke ever. No police agency would ever use a pit as a patrol dog and worry about its image and rep. A dog that loves to fight like these dogs do would also be a liability as far as it leaving the handler in a potentially dangerous situation to go and engage another dog that happens to be in the vicinity. I think that they will all be put down!!!

Did you also hear that the PETA freaks and other special interest groups are asking the judge to fine Vick 10 MILLION dollars for the rehabilitation of those dogs? These people who are out to help are criminals themselves!
When is the last time it cost 10 MILLION dollars to care for a dog or 50 dogs? The whole thing makes me sick. I see these groups as no better then Vick.
And if you want to know the truth, The dogs will probably ALL be put down. WHO would know? They can say they are placing them to give everyone who has been watching this story a mushy feel good day, but the dogs will be put with people we will never hear about and we will never hear about them again. I do not believe for one bloody second that Vicks dogs are getting any more of a chance then a local fighting dog at the pound that came from someone poor. It just doesn't make a drop of sense.

Unfortunately, I would be very upset if a neighbor or someone I knew ended up with one of these dogs. NOT because they are "pits" but because they are aggressive, abused and DANGEROUS! IMO...In this situation, they should be sheltered in a controlled environment for the rest of their lives, preventing the chance of a dangerous attack. I think Vick should be fined a reasonable amount (a million wouldn't hurt him) to maintain a not-for-profit Pit rescue and rehabilitation kennel staffed with a paid professional trainer to help determine the best situation for each of these dogs and the people interested in adopting them. It takes the right informed person to handle and care for an animal in this situation. I'm afraid these dogs, in the wrong humans hands, could be VERY dangerous. I don't know if the Law Enforcement claim is anything more than placing them in a salvage yard behind a fence that says "NO TRESPASSING". That's the kind of future an older already trained dog with bad habits like this has in "law enforcement". Whatever the truth may be, I AM glad that there is a chance to save some lives here. I just hope the human factor doesn't complicate them anyore.

I see that the PIT IDIOT PATROL is out thumbs downing anyone who doesn't vote for the bully breeds as America's #1 family pet. Do you idiots need your own children to get mauled to understand??? It is people with no clue about ANIMAL behavior who treat their dogs like little "babies" and end up creating the monsters that attack ankles or jugulars depending on their SIZE NOT BREED. The reason we will most likely never see the bully breeds recover a good reputation is because of the uniformed "band wagon" owners (the "human factor" i mentioned earlier) who justify their stupidity with NON FACTUAL OPINIONATED blog websites and refuse to read the SCIENTIFIC FACTS and evidence that support them that can be found in Veterinary research, written by people who actually ARE intelligent.

Welp,I know in Ohio,ALL pit bulls confiscated and found are put down.NO CHANCE for adoption. In my personal opinion,I think if a dog was used for fighting,it should be put down.Although it may be super friendly to people, who could guarantee this dog would never have the chance to get the neighbors dog?NO GUARANTEES,so,for safetys sake, they should be put down. And,believe it or not,I am like the animal lovers of all animal lovers. As I was walking thru a dog pound a couple years ago, there was the most beautiful pit bull in the lost and found. His head was gigantic, and he was cowering down begging for me to pet hm.Not knowing him,I could not do it.And,I cried for days over the loss of this beautiful dog.All because some fool had no collar and license, and probably did NOT carry the liability insurance on him required by law,he would be put down, all because he was a pitt bull!

The news yesterday was that 48 of the 49 dogs were going to be saved and adopted out, as you said. I hope it works out. Dogs bred and trained to be aggressive fighters could easily be a big, big problem. If I were to adopt one I would never allow it around children or other dogs.

I would be very surprised if this happens. In most cases dogs that have been seized in a fighting case are not adopted back out, it's just too big of a liability. I can see a few of the dogs possibly, but not all or even more than half.

I,too, hope what you heard is true.
When a dog is "dog aggressive" does not mean that it is people aggressive.
Many red zone dogs can go on to live happy healthy lives if properly treated.
Ask Cesar Milan,he has worked with a lot of red zone dogs.

This is a big mistake. If they were taught and experienced at fighting, they will be a huge risk in the public. I hope they were too young to be trained. And I hope they don't kill anyone or anything. Big mistake.

I hope you heard right. Pit bulls can be fantastic dogs if raised and trained correctly.
