I was talking to someone at a science church here my neighborhood and she mentioned a very good point.

Why is it that when people are 'gifted' with some sort of ESP (telepathy, clairvoyance, etc.) that it scares them to death even mention it to their desendents who inherited it from them?

Hello,

The time eventual comes where they have to prove or account for their abilities. Unfortunately all of them from the Israeli who could bend spoons mentally 40 years back, through to that Russian girl two years back who could see into people and diagnose their medical problems, were never able to preform well under scientific conditions.

So in short, these gifted people always seem to choke up and fail under scientific scrutiny and their fear would be to lose their credibility in society.

Cheers,

Michael Kelly

I really don't know. I found out as an adult, after years of premonitions, that I come from a family of water witchers. This is how they made their living for over 100 years before 1900.

I theorize that it was the opinion of a few (mainly my parents), who don't believe in "gifts", to keep this fact quiet to discourage their own children from the realization that they have gifts as well. My parents felt these "gifts" were witchcraft and could only bring about evil.

People fear what they do not understand.

its simple. were all born with "gifts" and we are socially conditioned to believe that they are not real and that there must be something wrong with us. Its only those people who realize at a somewhat early age that these are real phenomenon who are able to maintain and build on these abilities without blocking them out completely. the rest of society has conveniently forgotten that we have these abilities which they cant rationalize cause it scares the crap of out them and it doesnt fit into the idealologies which have been taught to them and which they have so readily accepted.
dont listen to the masses. listen to yourself. you have all the answers you need inside.

Not sure...I suspect my mom and grandmother were both "gifted" in this way though neither would talk about it...probably because both were raised Baptist and taught that such things were "evil" (witchcraft).

For me, I hated having the ability to "see" things that hadn't happened yet when I was a child. No one wanted to believe me and, for want of a better word, it sucked to sense what people around me were thinking. I was always getting myself in trouble because of this so-called "gift". Thankfully, I found a way to supress that "sense" when I was in college and I've never taken the chance since then of allowing it to return!
