Proverbs 31 because it speaks to me about how to live my life as a woman, although the standards are really high.

Proverbs 3: 5 - 8
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do lean upon your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make you paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your body, and refreshment to your bones.
Keep Smiling!

When I picked up my Bible to look for one that sounded familiar, I noticed a bookmark left by my dead husband. So I'll tell you his favorite:
20:27: "The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly." (King James version)
Steve's notes include his translation from the Hebrew (he was Jewish), and he says it this way: "A lamp of G-d is the human soul penetrating ones most intimate being."
That sounds better than "belly," I think.

Rather than listing my favorite ones I have compiled a short list of my least favorites:
3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
(don't think for yourself?)
16:4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
(god made evil for his own fun?)
19:18 Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.
(beat your child and ignore their screams of pain?)
20:30 The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the belly.
(bruises cure evil?)
22:15 Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
(beat into submission?)
23:13 Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. 23:14 Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.
(so do not hold back punishment because they won't die, but if they do they will thank you for saving them from hell?)
26:3 A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ***, and a rod for the fool's back.
(the fool is considered to be a slave or person of lower class, and for some reason it is ok to treat them like animals?)
30:17 The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.
(if you disobey your parents eagles will pluck out your eyes and eat them?)
Let me know if anything is misinterpreted or taken out of context.

Proverbs 1:10 My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.
Proverbs 3:5-8 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.
Proverbs 6:9-11 How long will you lie there, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man.
Proverbs 7:1-3 My son, keep my words and treasure up my commandments with you; keep my commandments and live; keep my teaching as the apple of your eye; bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.
Proverbs 9:7-9 Whoever corrects a scoffer gets himself abuse, and he who reproves a wicked man incurs injury. Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you; reprove a wise man, and he will love you. Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.
Proverbs 10:8 The wise of heart will receive commandments, but a babbling fool will come to ruin.
Proverbs 10:19 When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent.
Proverbs 11:2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom. 3 The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them. 4 Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death. 5 The righteousness of the blameless keeps his way straight, but the wicked falls by his own wickedness. 6 The righteousness of the upright delivers them, but the treacherous are taken captive by their lust. 7 When the wicked dies, his hope will perish, and the expectation of wealth perishes too. 8 The righteous is delivered from trouble, and the wicked walks into it instead.
Proverbs 12:15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice.16 The vexation of a fool is known at once, but the prudent ignores an insult.
Proverbs 12:23 A prudent man conceals knowledge, but the heart of fools proclaims folly.
Proverbs 13:3 Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life; he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.
Proverbs 13:4 The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.
Proverbs 13:20 Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.
Proverbs 14:3 By the mouth of a fool comes a rod for his back, but the lips of the wise will preserve them.
Proverbs 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.
Proverbs 14:15 The simple believes everything, but the prudent gives thought to his steps.
Proverbs 14:23 In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty.
Proverbs 15:1 A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Proverbs 15:3 The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.
Proverbs 15:10 There is severe discipline for him who forsakes the way; whoever hates reproof will die.
Proverbs 15:29 The LORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.
Proverbs 15:31 The ear that listens to life-giving reproof will dwell among the wise. 32 Whoever ignores instruction despises himself, but he who listens to reproof gains intelligence.
Proverbs 16:2 All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the spirit.
Proverbs 16:20 Whoever gives thought to the word will discover good, and blessed is he who trusts in the LORD.
Proverbs 17:10 A rebuke goes deeper into a man of understanding than a hundred blows into a fool.
Proverbs 17:14 The beginning of strife is like letting out water, so quit before the quarrel breaks out.
Proverbs 17:24 The discerning sets his face toward wisdom, but the eyes of a fool are on the ends of the earth.
Proverbs 17:27 Whoever restrains his words has knowledge, and he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding. 28 Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent.
Proverbs 18:2 A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.
Proverbs 18:6 A fool's lips walk into a fight, and his mouth invites a beating.
Proverbs 19:2 Desire without knowledge is not good, and whoever makes haste with his feet misses his way. 3 When a man's folly brings his way to ruin, his heart rages against the LORD.
Proverbs 19:19 A man of great wrath will pay the penalty, for if you deliver him, you will only have to do it again.
Proverbs 20:1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise.
Proverbs 21:1 The king's heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; he turns it wherever he will.
Proverbs 22:3 The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it.
Proverbs 22:24 Make no friendship with a man given to anger, nor go with a wrathful man, 25 lest you learn his ways and entangle yourself in a snare.
Proverbs 23:26-35 My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways. For a prostitute is a deep pit; an adulteress is a narrow well. She lies in wait like a robber and increases the traitors among mankind. Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaining? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes? Those who tarry long over wine; those who go to try mixed wine. Do not look at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup and goes down smoothly. In the end it bites like a serpent and stings like an adder. Your eyes will see strange things, and your heart utter perverse things. You will be like one who lies down in the midst of the sea, like one who lies on the top of a mast. "They struck me," you will say, "but I was not hurt; they beat me, but I did not feel it. When shall I awake? I must have another drink."

Follow the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding.....
But those that wait upon the Lord will rise up with wings.....
Both give me strength, and confidence in my Lord.

I like 'many hands make light work' and 'too many cooks spoil the broth'
They work well together.
Also 'all who hesitate are lost' and 'look before you leap'
