Ive got to be honest and say no, I think its obviosuly terrible and very sad, but Ive never stayed up all night thinking about it

No, I have not. I worry far more about people in my own area who don't have enough to eat or a decent warm coat with winter coming soon. I'm working right now and would rather bring a couple of bags of groceries to the food pantry here in town for someone who doesn't have a job. These are the people I want to help if I can - my own neighbors. Sending money to Africa is a useless gesture for someone like me. Let the celebrity do-gooders like Bono and some of those people do what they can in Africa. My small resources are needed here.

I believe in "think globally, but act locally".

Not even once. In fact, I don't remember ever being kept awake by anything other than my own personal concerns.

But I do not apologize for that. About the only thing I can do for people who are hungry beyond my immediate circle is to donate money to buy food. Or, in some creative instances, to buy products which support non-profit organizations. There's one that even donates if you click on their ads once a day, on the theory that you will be exposed to the things they have for sale and will at least sometimes make a purchase.

We need to have compassion for others, and we need to find out what we can do to help them. But there's no point in losing sleep over it.

Nope.

Not when there are people starving on every continent but one.

Why are the starving in Africa so special?

I'm significantly more concerned about what's happening in America.

The starvation in Africa could easily be construed as natural selection. In essence, they've had their shot.

No but I have thought about the homeless here in the US because I volunteer at a shelter and see it first hand all the time.

HOW DO YOU KNOW FOR SURE THEY ARE STARVING? WE SEE COMMERCIALS THAT THEY ARE. BUT AMERICA GIVES SO MUCH FOOD TO THEM. ASSUMING IS WRONG AND IF YOU ARE NOT OVER THERE YOU DON'T KNOW THE TRUTH!
WHAT ABOUT THE STARVING HERE IN AMERICA. DOES THAT KEEP YOU UP AT NIGHT? I KNOW THIS IS TRUE...I SEE IT.

I pray for people who are starving, that they will receive food. I don't stay up and worry about it.
