Greetings Friend,
Sorry to be controversial but I will have to disagree for a couple of reasons: 1) in the sense that you are talking about dying, I have had numerous family members and friends offer their lives to 'save' mine. For example, when I was a kid, my dad and I got stuck in a snow drift. We were freezing, but my dad took off his coat and gave it to me. Yes, we did make it, but that is a form of his willingness to 'die' for me. 2) In order to say that one would have to ask, what is death? What dies? Since you say that Jesus died for us, I will assume that you are from a Christian background, which would suggest that you believe that every one will spend eternity some where. But, what will spend eternity some place? Surely, not our bodies. So, we must not be these bodies even though we think we are. These bodies will die but we will continue to live, so we can not be these bodies. Since we are not these bodies, how can someone die for another? What dies? And, speaking of Jesus, Jesus knew he was not the body. He knew he would be in heaven, so can we really say that he died? What died? I know I sound redundant and for that I apologize. I hope you see my point. In addition, I apologize if I sound offensive. I truly do not mean to be offensive. I just want to be helpful and offer a different perspective.
sending love,

The US is at war under false pretenses. However, that does not negate the fact that our sons and daughters are out there doing what their country called them to do. It's just a shame that we are loosing soldiers every day to a war we should have never started in the first place. I believe that George Bush was determined to start a war over there Hell or high water and was just looking for an excuse to do it. I think he went into office determined to do it right from the very start and then dug around for any possible excuse to justify doing it. He wanted to complete what his father had started and had failed to do. And our sons and daughters are paying the price for his arrogance.

You seem to be forgetting this is an international site.
Many Americans died to protect freedom but none of them managed to stop the Patriot act getting passed, did they?

No soldier has offered to die for me. If they did I would politely decline the offer. As for Jesus, he is most likely a fictional character.
The current war is about securing the oil in a region that had nothing to do with me, until the President of my country said it did.

I don't believe in the first, and I honor the second. I have the highest regard for the American military, not just the General Infantry, but the whole Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.

No American GI has ever offered to die for me. I've never even been to America.
Also, fictional characters don't count or else you could add superman and Doctor Xavier to that list

Yes but only one has ever offered to kill! That is the big difference. omparing Soldiers to Jesus is ludicrous. Soldiers are going to hell.

The American soldier doesn't want to die. He doesn't believe he's going to die. He expects he will live and someone else will die.
And he probably joined the military for college money, or to score with chicks.
