Don't worry Sweetie. Your dog is just drowsy from the anesthesia. My 3 year old was spayed a few weeks ago and she behaved the same way. My husband tried to entice her with bacon the day she came home, with no success. Now when my dog turns down bacon, you know she is under the influence of drugs! :) Your dog will be quiet for a few days, then he will start eating and drinking normally, and moving around more. They suggest keeping them quiet for two weeks or so, so they can get over the soreness and heal. Your dog also might be constipated from the anesthetic, just give him plenty of water, time and nature will take care of this. You did a good thing for your pet. Your boy will feel better soon! Take care!

My little 2 year old Maltese was active, happy and healthy until I git him fixed. Two days later, he developed heart problems. He had about 20 heart attacks the next two months and then died. The vet said He may have developed a blood clot from the surgery.

It more than likely is from anesthesia. However, I'd keep an eye on him for other problems. If he starts to act weak or disoriented, take him back to the vet. Good luck

He will be sleepy yes, he had anethestic which can take up to 24 hrs to be removed from a system. He is likely a bit sore also so he is just resting. If you have any doubt at all call the vet that did the neuter.
Dogs like humans recover at different paces, you didn't mention his age. Older dogs can take more time while puppies can be up and running right after.

This has not anything to do with climate he used to be neutered, its behavioral issues. Dogs do not continually mount different puppies to reproduce they do it for dominance too. Your chihuahua (like so much small puppies) used to be usually handled just like the youngster of the household and now not just like the household puppy. Therefore he feels dominant and thinks he can do anything he desires (marking, aggression, dominance acts). Once he learns his location (take a look at coaching categories) he'll certainly quit so much, if now not all, of those problems.

He probably still has drugs in his system and probably in a lot of pain. I would just let him rest, he will be like his old self in a day or so, it really will seem like it never happened. Just love him up. I felt so bad, but my dog was so hyper that I actually enjoyed him sitting around for a day or so.

It's not unusual for a dog to be a little lethargic after going under anesthesia. If you are really concerned, call your vet and ask if they feel this is normal. Didn't they give you anything to tell you what to expect and what to watch for after the procedure?

If he's still acting drowsy tomorrow, call your vet. This is pretty normal after surgery.

It's normal. However, when he "feels better" don't allow any heavy exercise or play for at least a week.
Best of luck and don't worry so much.
Just surprised that your vet didn't explain this to you properly.
