As I see it consumerism is the greatest threat. The west is and the developing countries that follow are example are caught in this path of happiness = stuff...new stuff...stuff I can't afford but feel I should have. Look our housing depression in the U.S. Many have houses they can't safely afford and were given loans that we should not have gotten and now things are getting bad. This lifestyle leads to poverty and depression which leads to crime and violence. And it is the poor and hopeless that radical groups Muslim or otherwise that prey on. If the middle east had a quality of life then they would value the children and not raise them to die. But when you go beyond a certain level of of quality you risk becoming decadent and soon after you country collapses, like Greece, Rome, France, England. The only defense is to spend more effort looking to find a healthy balance, not trying to grow and grow just for the sake of growth.

No. For example the United States has more than 50 religious paths available all cooperating under the government's design. Islam's faithful are welcome in the USA and in Canada and many run businesses and contribute to the economy as well as the religion's contribution to culture and society. As a side note: the Bible cautions us to worship the God of our fathers and not to "go whoring" after other gods. Some can think about the wisdom of it.
