I already answered your question. Having entered from Eire you have (in all likelihood - depending on your exact circs) three months deemed leave (from the date of entry) as a visitor.
You are not thinking this through for your return to the UK. Get the wrong officer (one of those who hates Americans according to a previous answer you received from someone) and you will be eaten alive.
You will also have a VISIT stamp (if successful) yet you are looking to apply to the HO for LTR in a EC mandatory category (according to a prev question).
Get married, get a visa.
Given that WHM visas are not available to USA nationals the tip below is pretty crappy.

With a visitors visa you cannot apply for jobs or work, but i'd say it is a bit strange that you never got a stamp, however now you are here I'm not sure what use you would need for the stamp as it has no benefit besides saying you went through immigration. As others have suggested if you require the stamp for some reason none of us are sure of, they can't question your travelling, simple as your base is in the U.K. and you are travelling Europe. To get a actual visa visitor or otherwise, which is needed to stay longer then 6 months and other situations, you would have needed to apply before coming to the U.K. And for a working visa you have to have a Job before coming to the U.K. and your employer has to apply on your behalf for the Visa. A tip though if you are under 30 there is a visa to apply for known as the Working Holidaymaker visa which allows you to work for a year in the uk and allows you to stay in the uk for 2 years, however you would have to return to the states to apply. there is endless info on this official website...www.ukvisas.gov.uk/

what you talked about it is not called a " visa waiver " and neither is that a " visa" -its just a " stamp" which conffers leave to enter for 6 months.
When you came from US and arrived in Dublin, you should have been stamped and an IRL stamp should be present in your passport.
When you arrived to UK from IRL to UK, you should not get a stamp as passengers who arrive from Rep of Ireland do not come through Immigration control. So that's correct.
Why do you want a UK stamp you need to ask yourself? so that you have 6 months in UK?
I do not suggest you " exiting" and " re entry" to UK a day later to obtain that stamp. The immigration official will only ask you about IRL and UK.
You should instead try to legalise your stay here - if you want to stay longer.
PS This sentence of yours makes no sense.
Immigration may suspect that I need the Visa stamped in so that I can get an interview and change my status to something more long term or permanent and are bound to ask me, so

Go to the Home Office they may help you.Eu countries may not need a visitors Visa so you may be wasting your time and money. But it does sound as though you have found a loophole in the Uk immigration law.As a foreigner you should have entered through the appropriate channel on arrival here.Should you be entitled to a waiver the UK immigration will certainly help you.

The type of visa you are talking about doesn't allow you to work in the UK. If they haven't already issued you with the six months visa then you are not renewing it by travelling out and back in again..
Why don't you take the eurostar to Paris for a day or two just to see that fine city and then come back.........
You don't need an excuse to do this.........

Just keep hold of your old ticket with your passport. They're a bit lax in the UK and Europe because fo the EU laws but if anyone asks just show them the old torn in half ticket.

Why not go on a day trip? fly to Paris for a couple of days or Holland, flights are cheap enough, do a bit of shopping, and evening meal and home for bed time!

I always thought you had to apply for a visa.Just stamping a visa in your passport is neither ,secure, sensible,or,feasible,in todays political terrorist times.Visa(long stay) applicants should have to be checked first.

You don't need a good reason...tourism is fine. Go visit another country for fun and pleasure. Perfectly legitimate. Amsterdam is a kick.

Fly to Munich for the weekend. When you get back tell them you wanted to celebrate Oktoberfest and get some good German beer and sausages.
