People say that DNA testing has proven the Book of Mormon to be false, because it shows that the Native American Indians are not descended from the Jews. But, wouldn't you need the DNA of the people who you are comparing DNA with? For example, to know if today's Native American Indians are descended from the Lamanites, you would need the DNA of the Lamanites from the end of the Book of Mormon. And even then, nothing will be conclusive, since many centuries have passed and DNA gets "diluted" or "evolved" or whatever.

As I recall, there never was any TESTING done, all this DNA stuff with the Book of Mormon was based on research already done. So, there has, as far as I know, never been any testing done specifically to find out if the Native American Indians have any sort of DNA link with ancient Jews.

Good question, first you need to understand about what DNA testing can and can not tell you. After all when Oprah got tested they told her that she was descended from the Zulu tribe in Africa, but history shows that to be completely off base, because we know for sure that Oprah IS the descendant of slaves and history proves that no Zulu were ever captured by the slave traders...So how could she have ancestors of the Zulu tribe... I have done alot of research into DNA testing and have put what I have found on a webpage....

Although the history of the indigenous peoples of this continent go back over 30,000 years, I think that is long before the starting point of the Book of Mormon. And we arent the descendants of Asians either, that land bridge theory is so full of holes, it looks like swiss cheese.

The Mormon "Lamanites" are supposed to be a tribe of Isreal, correct? So their DNA would be similar to other Jewish folks. As American Indian DNA doesn't show any similarities with Jewish people's, but DOES share similarities with 4 Asian groups and 1 European group, we can safely say that American Indians are NOT Lamanites.
You know the worst thing about Mormons? These White people have come into American and set up shop and made up stories about us. Did they ask us what our history was? Because we know where we came from and who we are. No, they just made up some gobbledygook nonsense to fit with their own European religions and then try to make up things to fit with their own mythology.
It's just. . .sooooooo insulting and infuriating!

Lay off the drugs and face the facts that the book of Mormon is just gibberish just like the 3 religions from the middle east (Judism, Islam, Christianity).

it is compared to the DNA of presently living, known descendants of the ancestor in question. I'm not sure of the details, but this information makes lineage clear to scientists.

I'm not sure how many hundreds or even thousands of years bone D.N.A. can go back, but I do know that it doesn't get "diluted or evolved or whatever" If there is enough substance to the bone they can get D.N.A. and be in the upper 90's percentile in accuracy.

you simply need the DNA from KNOWN descendants to compare. You don't need the ORIGINAL people. If you need more detail, feel free to email me,or,come to the "biology" section where I am sure I,and others, can explain your question adequately
