There is no such structure as a lycoma in medical diagnosis. It would be inappropriate to tell you that you have a lipoma based on an assumption of what you may have heard. You have misunderstood your doctor. Having people who have not examined you tell you that you have a benign growth is nice to hear, and may well be correct, but it is better that you contact the doctor's office. Ask for them to tell you exactly what the condition is, and how to spell it. Also ask them what the diagnosis means, and what, if anything, is recommended for the condition.

Basically, it is a lump that contains adipose tissue ( fatty layer under the surface of the skin), it accumulates the fat into a pouch-like lump. These lumps are, most often, benign. In fact, Docs will seldom do a biopsy because a lipoma is characteristic and based on examination, they can determine that it is a lipoma. There is no medical intervention required unless it becomes painful, red, swollen or increases in size. Since it is on your back, you might want to ask for it to be removed, depending on the location of your back. I had one on my abdomen for years but, it increased in size. After the General Surgeon removed it, I was informed that it was quite deep as well. I hope that this helps !!

Yes lypoma, easy to mishear medical jargon. Not lycoma. Ahh never mind now you know 'Snettert..' told you. Benign means not cancerous.

You misheard. He said lipoma. It is a fatty lump, almost certainly benign.
