How big of an area are you trying to select?

The only advice I can give you is what I know from VBA programming in Excel that most of Excel's functions such as the SUM function can take no more than 29-30 arguments. If you have a ton of different cell formats that could possibly lead to over 30 arguments causing an error such as that. Either try reducing the number of formats in the selection by formatting a number of the cells the same or select a smaller area and work with the smaller areas. For instance if you need to add 10,000 cells you might break it up into two or three groups. Then add the totals up for those three groups.
