If so, how often, and what type?

Just feeling curious... :-)

Currently do so about twice a week.

(Mindfulness of Breathing).

Am in the slow lane. :-)

Would love to be inspired... :-)

With Best Wishes,

Arjuna

I have practiced meditation for 25 years or longer. Thru the years my practice has grown & eveloved. I began with breathing. In the past I have probably used most forms. At this point in my life, I basically can get where I need to go without much of the standard "forms", unless I am just particularly obscessed with something, then I usually revert back to mindfulness. I usually meditate around a hour 2 times a day, but sometimes I may miss one due to circumstances. Sometimes I may meditate more if I am wrapped up in chaos. I started with 20 min. 2 times a day. It would be better to meditate everyday if you can, start with 20 minutes. After a while you will notice some amazing effects. Good luck to you.
BTW, you are just on time, exactly where you are supposed to be. Don't compare yourself to others. Your not in the slow lane, you are in your lane going the speed that is right for you. It is not a race.

I usually meditate three times per week although I strive to meditate each day. I started out doing guided meditation and using music and cds. This really helped me to get into the practice. Although purest might say this is the wrong way. I am a nonreligious meditator who took an eclectic approach. I truly feel that it has helped me to live more deeply connected to the present and the world in general. This has enriched my life. I don't always find the practice easy though, some days are easier or more fluid than others. I think doing it somewhat consistently regardless brings benefit though. The effects aren't just for while you meditate but carry over to your life. In my eclectic approach I have done mindful breathing, mantra or focusing on an affirmation, guided visualization, and walking meditation. For me mixing it up and going with what feels right seems to work best so maybe experiment a bit in your own meditation. Best wishes to you.

Indeed I do, for much of my day as currently I have the privilege of getting paid enough that I only have to work a few days a month to support my extremely simplified life. As for type, it depends on my mood.

I will let my thoughts wander unfettered by will or imagination, thinking about nothing but thinking about everything at one kind of thing.

Sometimes I ponder on the mysteries, mostly the virtues, but the Cross is one of my favorites.

Sometimes I will sit and do nothing, where I just experience life instead of thinking about it.

Sometimes, most of the time I spend my time with a single focus on God, which some call contemplative prayer, or what the old mystics referred to as the ground. That communion with God which is beyond words, beyond our own preconceptions.

As you seem rather friendly (which is not all that common here) I will share something which happened to me a while back. I woke up with a thought ‘I am enlightend…but that is alright. I will get over it’ then laughed and I laughed. And when I shared it with a pupil I told him that if he understood it, then he too was enlightened. But he should not worry, he would get over it to.

Live, learn…and love

yes daily - i am an atheist so there is no religious thing to it but there is so much rubbish going on around us i meditate to clear and unclutter my head - deep breathing focusing on an object or a memory of somewhere for about 15 minutes - then i get back to reality of life.

i think some people power-nap for the same purpose but i never fall asleep.

Used to a lot, and got out of the habit. Just lately have been trying to get back into at least once a day with the emphasis on visualisation and breath control.

I go into the Alpha state several times a day. You need to clear your mind.

Yes, many times a day. Many people tell me I am only zoning out, but it is meditation.
