You have to wait for 6 months after the date you got the tattoo to give blood (UK).

According to the American Red Cross. You are not allowed to give blood if you have had 1) a piercing 2) a tattoo for at a minimum of 12 months from the time you got either. Plasma is the same way, and most from my experience check every so often for more tattoos. They make you show them at the physicals they do on you.

Also something that will keep you from giving blood in the U.S. is living anywhere else in the world for an extended period of time.. i.e. Europe and certian parts of Asia...

Honestly though. if you don't tell them you got a tattoo recently, they aren't going to punish you. They test your blood about 7 billion times for every disease known to man b4 they ever put it into someone elses body, so rest assured.. If it has "ink poisoning" it will be thrown away. SO DONATE, get your free t-shirt and save a life..

Thank you for the question...
:)

depending on where you are located, you have to wait up to a year after being tattooed or pierced before donating. anyone that tells you that you cannot donate at all is full of crap. if you want to donate blood but have recently been inked or pierced, just tell them that you havent gotten any tattoos or piercings within the last year. the blood is tested anyway before its used. i used to donate all the time and i have 6 tattoos, a few are visible and they have never said anything about it.

About....six, seven times maybe. I always try to go donate when I can. I usually got denied because they would think I'm underweight (I'm 138 and look 101 apparently). Then most times my iron is too low, but I've never been faint after donating and I donate pretty fast. And once my blood pressure was too low (I blame not eating yet). But I'm proud of myself also! Think how many people you're saving!!

It is a one year wait. They are thinking about reducing that time though.
I just read an article about blood donations. I also donate every 56 days.
You can go onto the American Red Cross website to confirm.

No. There is a short waiting period, and you do have to reveal the fact that you have a tattoo, but you can continue to donate as long as your pre-screening is fine.

By the way, that catscan/MRI thing re: tattoos is a myth! The Mythbusters Jamie and Adam disproved that one a long time ago!

No its not true at all, i do believe tho that you can't give blood for about 6 months after having a tattoo, it may even be a bit longer, but they will be able to give you a proper length of time

you can donate blood if you have tattoos. however, there is a set amount of time after you get your tattoo before you can donate.
