NOPE. That was guidance according to the program God had with the Nation Israel.

We are currently in the dispensation of the GRACE of God, which is entirely different. We are told to simply BELIEVE and trust in the all sufficiency of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ as Gods solution to our sin problem as well as Gods provision for the righteousness we need to enter His HOLY presence. All is a GIFT, acquired thru taking God at His Word.

The commandments were given to show us that NO man could do it. They were to be our schoolmaster to lead us to the ONE person who DID do it, Jesus Christ.

"We walk by faith (in what God has already DONE) and not by sight." And we must acknowledge that "no man will be justified by the works of the law."

True guidance is taking God at His Word. We dont need "guidance", we need a SAVIOR.

>> Why should we fear God and keep his Commandments? >> Note: Ecclesiastes 12:13,14         I know the Bible says it, but I don't like the verse you've chosen as the suggested answer to your question. That verse says we should reverence God and keep His Commandments because He is going to Judge us in the end. I don't like that because that is the devil-induced, Catholic "burn in hell" mentality we Protestants have been trying to get away from for over four hundred years (ever since Martin Luther discovered Justification by Faith). That kind of mentality doesn't produce "fear" (reverence) *for* God -- it produces the kind of "fear" *of* God which Atheists are always touting as a reason to denounce God entirely.         No, a far better answer to your question is that we should reverence God and keep His commandments for the same reason that children should reverence their parents and obey them. It is not about avoiding a spanking. It is about recognizing just who cares the most for you, who has your best interests at heart, who knows so much more than you, and who will take care of you in the end. It's about making the intelligent choice -- not mindlessness. It's all about Love, man. God bless.

Where many people screw up here is in believing the commandments God gave Israel are the commandments God requires of all mankind.

It is an assumption with devastating consequences.

I think that is good, but I think you must complete it with this from Lev.

Leviticus 19:18
Do not take revenge or bear a grudge against members of your community, but love your neighbor as yourself; I am the LORD.

That sums it all up, by the way your name is not Paul is it Mr. Tent maker?

If you're a Judeo-Christian, I suppose. Otherwise it just sounds ridiculous.
