But when those who are driven by Christianity push so hard, aren't they just acting out too?

I feel we are all here to somehow get along, and everyone needs to keep their social skills regardless of how we are supposed to find our faith. I disdain Bible thumpers as much as hateful anti-Christian posters. How do you feel about this?

If you are going to get into a debate, you should have the courage of your convictions, and sometimes that leads to heated arguments. Better we put our beliefs in the open where we can debate them and test them against other ideas.

Id prefer we get along with one another, honesty seems a good start. When the energy dies down, you can still be friends and admire each others passion even when you don't agree.

Well, the thing that I try to keep in mind is the Christian is worried about your eternal soul. They are acting on the great comission to try and save people from Hell.
If the Atheist is wrong, they are doomed to Hell, if the Christian is wrong, they are no worse off than the Atheist in the end.
I think aggressively pushing beliefs is wrong, but offering beliefs shouldn't be met with hatred. I find there are lunatics on both camps, but Christians as a whole seem a bit more restrained (my opinion and I know it may not be worth much to most).

There is a difference. An atheist is harassing the Christian. He has nothing to offer, but is attacking him because of his Christian beliefs. A christian is offering a message, you can take or leave it. There is no personal attack, simply an offer to hear the message of Jesus. They might be offended if the Bible says something they are doing is wrong. But, for the most part deep down they already know its wrong. So I think one is a message of hate, and the other is an offer of hope.

Look at Geo, what a perfect example

I want to agree with Matt A, but not all Christians behave so nicely. You've all seen videos or movies of people screaming "damn you to fire" and denying anyone else their own input.

Too much chlorine will poison you. Too much sodium will dehydrate you. Put them together and use in moderation, you have salt, which the body needs to survive.

To Matt A, as an atheist, I don't like to be "witnessed" to but I understand what they are trying to do. But we are not harrassing Christians. We feel that we have seen the light and have broken free from the chains of religion and are only hoping to get other people to see the light as well. best of intentions i promise.

I agree 100%. When people show anger and wear blinders to anything they don't agree with, it turns me off to their "ways", no matter what those ways are. I want to be around kind, thoughtful, family loving individuals, not people who point fingers accusingly at anyone. I avoid those people like the plague, they'll never get me to listen to them, even if they ARE right.

people like that feel like they are always the victim of persecution when they are the ones persecuting other people of different beliefs.
