(2) How and where can I get a national insurance card?
(3) Do I need to be employed in the Uk in order to register with the UK Department of work to get a national insurance number?
(4) I am an adult and over 18. I will study in a private English lanugage school.
Can I still pay the same school fee in public government school if I show them my passport? Someone told me I must have a property in the Uk or depends on the number of living years already in the Uk before I can be treated as a local student there.
(5) How and where can I get a Health card, from UK government?

Hi elijahyo.,
you can naturalise as a UK citizen if you choose to do so. Treaty rights include working, looking for work (usually up to
6 months allowed for this)
--How to neutralise?
Is it cheaper to buy goods by using EU passport in the uk?
No, apart from things such as university fees.
-low university fee for EU students?
National Health Service (NHS).
- how to get NHS?
Universities charge the same "home" fees to EU nationals as UK citizens providing the EU national has been living in an EU state for 3+ years.
-I get my a EU passport only for 1 year, so i am afraid I cannot get the same fee as citizens. Is it same fee only for public university? How about private institue or specialised school, college (higher than secondary school)?

1) Indefinitely.
2) Yes. You need to register with the Department of Work and Pensions to get a National Insurance number.
3) Yes. Your right to vote is restricted.
4) A Health Card (EHIC) will cover you for emergency treatment while you are regarded as a visitor. Once you are regarded as a resident, you get the same health treatment as the rest of us. (If you're planning to be ill, it's better to stay in Portugal)
5) A list of Portuguese Consulates is at
http://www.theschengenoffice.com/portugal_embassy.html
6) As an EU resident, you pay tax where the goods are bought. There is no refund unless you travel via a non-EU country.
7) No
8) State education in the UK is free for all residents. If you live here for more than 3 months, you are required to send your children to school.
9) As an EU citizen you have the right to live and work in any EU country. Each member state has its own local regulations.

(1) If I enter the Uk, how long can I live and stay?
As long as you are "exercising treaty rights" you can stay as long as you want. Eventually, you can naturalise as a UK citizen if you choose to do so. Treaty rights include working, looking for work (usually up to 6 months allowed for this), studying, or living on independent means.
(2) Can I work there?
Yes. As an EU national you can work here without permission. There may be odd exceptions for national security-related jobs, though.
(3) Do I have the same status as local citizens in the Uk? What are the differences?
You have the same status. Once you are resident here, you can vote if you want to.
(4) Do I need to get a health card from Portugal in order to have free or cheaper medical treatment in the UK?
No. Under reciprocal arrangements, if you are exercising treaty rights you can use the (free, for almost everything) National Health Service (NHS).
(5) Where is the Portugal consulate in the UK?
Portuguese Embassy
Consulate Section
3 Portland Place
London W1N 3AA
(6)Is there No tax refund in buying products in the UK when I left the UK as other non EU tourist ?
No, that isn't for EU nationals.
(7) Is it cheaper to buy goods by using EU passport in the uk?
No, apart from things such as university fees.
(8) If I use the EU passport, Is the school fee as low as the local residents in the UK ?
Schools up to 18 are free. Universities charge the same "home" fees to EU nationals as UK citizens providing the EU national has been living in an EU state for 3+ years.
(9) Any points I omit in having this EU passport? Any things that I can do and cannot do? What other benefits for an EU passport holder?
You can bring your family with you.

1. Yes but you'd be better off finding a job first!
2. yes but job market pretty busy so get a job before coming over
3. Same status? You get to pay tax same as everyone and pay for your NHS stamp as well!
4. You can use your Portugal card to get treatment for the first 3 months after that you need your national insurance card.
5. Portugese Consulate in London i'm sure
6. don't know but don't think so as it is all E U now
7. Passports doesn't mean any reductions when buying goods (Unless you buy outside the E U)
8. You can only use E U passport! They're all we have now, have had for a long time (How i miss my old one though) As for school fees of course they'll be the same
9.Any point you missed is that E U passport or not, once in the UK you have to abide by UK laws and rules!

1, As long as you like.
2, Yes you can.
3, Yes you do basically. You must abide by the law, and pay your taxes. You must drive on the left side of the road. You should be diplomatic if England play Portugal (we're still smarting!!!)
4, I don't think you need a card. You should pay the same as everybody else.
5, In London somewhere. Check on Google.
6 , I don't think tax refunds are possible.
7, Likewise it's not possible (I think)
8, It's probably the same.
9, You can travel anywhere you like in Europe EU. We are basically all European Citizens now. A EU passport is a prized possession in the eyes of millions of less fortunate than ourselves. This freedom is the main benefit.

The passport of a UK citizen is also an EU passport. However, the UK issues passports to some non-citizens also. People from Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Mann get UK passports but are not EU citizens. Their passports contain a special stamp explaining this. Similarly, many people from Hong Kong and other former colonies are issued with special British passports which are not EU passports. The situation is quite complicated and, I think, unique in the EU. However, if your mother was actually born in England and held or holds a UK passport, or has a UK birth cert, you should be able to get a proper UK passport and become an EU citizen.

Oh, come over, you won't have to work, you will get handouts, and free housing, you won't have to work... You will get better benefits than some of our poor...... You will go top of the list for operations, though, you might contract life threatening deceases from some health services.. some areas are still very good but the NHS mainly has gone down the drain thanks to ten years of bad government.. You have just said it all........... Everything that is, in the minds of all people that want something for nothing..
