My 9.5yr old shih tzu dog sleeps 18~20 hours per day. Is this normal? He is only awake during meal time, and when time to go for a walk.

I have a 11 month old Harlequin Great Dane puppy/young adult and she sleeps at least 15-18 hours a day. She wakes me or my husband up when she has to go potty, or is hungry or thirsty. She is in perfect health, is very happy and we take her on regular walks.

If this is a new habit and he is less active than he used to be, it's worth checking it out. If he's been like this for a long time, and he is still active when he goes for a walk, eats well, etc., I wouldn't worry too much. He is not a puppy any more, you know! Still, blood tests must be done every year for a check up.

Now, this would desire to be evident. except the place you're, a single calendar day is 36-40 hours, it combines day and nighttime hours. evaluate this to boot, that those situations are basically a reference element and your domestic dog might basically no longer in large condition the mould. it is not something to stress approximately.

It sounds like it's time for a visit to the vet. You have to ask the question, "Normal compared to what?". I also don't know if it's her age, so ask the vet about that, too.
