If you purchase a car (2007) and decide you no longer want the car, can you give it back to the dealer? I am not asking for any money back nor for the down payment...I just don't want the car...

There is no state that allows a cooling off period for vehicle purchases. Once you take delivery, it is your car and you can not take it back. That is the law. Even if you come back to the dealership 2 hours later, they are still not obligated to take back the vehicle.

Your best bet would be to go to the dealership and ask to talk to the General Manager and explain your situation. Remember that he is under no obligation to take back the car. I hope this helps to clarify the actual truth.

In the majority of states, the answer is no. If you made a down payment, it sounds like you financed or leased the car. In this case, your problem is not with the dealer, but with the bank at this point. You are going to need to sell the car on your own to get out of it.

i don't know of any states that have a cooling off period, but usually the answer is no. if you don't want it just try and sell it or trade it in for something else and take the hit on the depreciation. they don't care what you do with it as long as your payment is made.

In some places there is a "cooling off period." This is usually just a few days though. It'll vary by state and by country, though. Google your country/state/province and "cooling off period"

If it is within 3 days, you can. That is the law. If it's more than that, no way.
