English is the official language of the U.S.
No we shouldn't be paying for english lessons.
Lastly, any immigrant who isn't proficient in english within three years should be sent back to their own country.

CNN is a cheer leader for the illegals so they hired Rick Sanchez as a antidote to Lou Dobs. I must admit Sanchez while clearly supporting the cause of the illegals was fair to both sides. Tom was absolutely right about generation after generation learning English in night school or on their own, and we should not be spending dollars to federalize language. Maybe we could make a deal, make English the official language of the USA and all documents other than emergency serves will be in English, as should all government meeting than we will provide vouchers for those that want to learn English. But then again those who are naturalized citizens have to known English to become one, so why are they asking for tax dollars to learn English

Tom Tancredo disagreed because Miguel Perez wants specially funded schools to teach English. While Tom Tancredo wants to know why the public school system isn't good enough to do the job.
I also believe that the poll taken 74 percent want English as this country's National Language.
I happen to agree with Tancredo on these issues. As well as the poll results. It's the only way we are going to start taking back our country.
Did you also happen to notice that the parents of the little Hispanic boy placed him in Spanish speaking school. And that little boy only knew, and spoke English. Watching him struggle to try to understand what the teacher was saying and talking about while reading that book for them all in Spanish is what got to me. There was no one on one as our public teachers have and do for some students struggling the way he was. Granted I understood that the parents want their boy to be able to be fluent in both languages. But to toss him into a Spanish speaking school unprepared with little or no knowledge of the language at his age, and watch him struggle was my biggest concern.

In my day there was not such a great need to do so as it is today. The vast flooding of illegals from Mexico has caused this need. Now I'm reading where illegal Cubans are coming across the Mexican Deserts to put foot on American soil. They apparently have a "Special Status Loop Hole" that if they can arrive here, and set foot on American soil. They automatically get refugee asylum, and a path to residency.

But they still do not need separate specially run schools, other than the public schools, and comminity colleges to hire Spanish to English teachers. Especially when they already have public schools available. That's all I'm saying. To expand... a cousin who married into the family is of Mexican decent. His first language is English always. And he doesn't use Spanish much at all. Last time I spoke with him, he said he didn't care to or have need for it.

We have free public school as well as public television. We have very low cost adult school. Why should more money be wasted on this? That money should go to low wage workers displaced by massive immigration. Or better yet, hire us to teach them English without requiring us to have a teaching degree. I know English. I taught my son English. I helped all my little brothers and sisters and kids I babysat with their homework. Why can't I be an English teacher? I bet I could get a job like that in Japan or something so why couldn't I get a job like that in California? It makes no sense.

Here we go again, take a look at how Mexico handles it, here they have what is known as "American school". If a child of school age here, who speaks English, needs to enter the school system, they will go to special schools or be taught at home. the schools cost is paid for by the parents to the tune of 500.00$ a month or more, that's dollars not pesos.
Tom is right and as far as I'm concerned should be the next President of the USA.
I have emailed Richard Sanchez at CCN about this issue.

English lessons? I'd suggest laying down their $12 at Barnes and Noble and getting a language cd/book. There's a million out there. OR just turn on Sesame Street.
The first solution shouldn't be "let's throw money at it." If they have that extra money laying around, let's hire more ICE agents.

English already is the official language - the only thing is, America is just too scared of being called "racist" to declare it so.
It's like Swedish in Sweden - would you believe that Swedish is not official there?

English should not be made the Official Language.
Stone Cold
The same thing that you alleged about that little boy, Is the same thing that the American School system has been doing to us for years. You can not learn if your put in a class that a Language (English) is the only language used in the class room, You do not need special school ,you hire Bilingual (Spanish/ English) teachers.
