You absolutely can go, and should too, I think you will find it interesting. Don't listen to the people that are being negative about it, I'm quite sure you will have a good experience. The links other people have put in are good. The one from www.mormon.org is great! If you know anyone that is a member who is actively attending, you might feel most comfortable asking them if you can go with them (then you have someone to sit by who can answer questions if you have any). Really it is just a regular church service, as others have mentioned. Good luck, let us all know how it goes!

Absolutely, more than welcome. Every LDS chapel in the world says "Visitors Welcome" outside, and you will be. There should be someone to greet you, and if you tell them it is your first time then they will explain things to you.
In our ward the first hour is sacrament meeting in the chapel, and in the second hour there is a special informal class for new members and investigators which teaches from the scriptures. Then in the third hour you will go to priesthood meeting (for men) and Relief Society (for women) which is mostly teaching about how to live a good life. You don't have to stay for all three hours, but you might enjoy it. If you have children, there are organisations to look after them, from 18 months (nursery) to 18 years (Young Men/Young Women) and they can meet with people their own age.
Some wards have their meetings a different way round, so check on the "Worship with us" section of www.mormon.org first.
You may be asked for your first name, but no one will pressure you to return, or anything. Go in your Sunday best, and don't forget to take your Bible. Hymn books are provided.
Oh ... but don't go this coming Sunday (7th October) as it's General Conference, so it will be closed! Everyone will be at the Stake Centre watching the broadcast.
Have fun!

Absolutely.
You'll feel most comfortable if you go dressed nice (slacks/tie or dress), but it's by no means required.
Get there a few minutes early, and tell someone that this is your first time in a Mormon meeting and they'll help you get to the right places.
You can find a church near you at this site:

Enjoy!

You can go to a Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints (LDS aka Mormon church) any time you would like. They have communion at every service, and like Catholic services, it is closed communion in that only the faithful members should participate, but no one would say anything if you did. You can attend all meetings and activities.

Anyone can attend. You can take communion, and participate in any way at the regular Sunday service. You probably won't be asked to say a prayer, but anything else is fair game.
And there is absolutely no truth to people saying they won't leave you alone afterwards. Nobody stands at the door collecting your name and address as you enter, it's a regular church service.

Yes. If you look at the signs to most, if not all of our churches they say "Visitors Welcome" on them. Temples are another story you must be a member in good standing for at least a year to be able to get the privilege to attend and I think that fact is where most of your confusion comes from.

Absolutley. All are welcome to attend services at a Mormon church. The easiest way to find one in your area is to go to www.lds.org and use the church locator.
