The righteous believe unto death. And this gives them power. Power enough to kill, murder and destroy and commit all sorts of atrocities. Yet there are so many different religions that disagree with one another. This leads to conflict, violence and war.
It seems to me that it is not belief in God that is the problem. It is when that belief becomes a system and that system becomes an institution; that is when the problems begin. So individual faith is not wrong. But is religion itself poison? Should we as a human race abandon the old ways of institutionalized religion and instead rely on our own beliefs? Aren't we smart enough and wise enough to hear God's words in our own hearts without someone telling us what to do?

If they weren't fighting over religion they would just find something else to fight about.

"Should we as a human race abandon the old ways of institutionalized religion and instead rely on our own beliefs?"

Sounds good to me but "we as a race" can never agree on anything.

Good question. Peace

Good question. Unfortunately when humanity gets hold of a religion and organises it and institutionalizes it then the trouble starts. I agree that individual faith is not wrong but any religion, by definition, is going to involve a social group with a common belief with mutual support.

Hiya , great question.

Now , the Bible clearly states this fact. . that ¨the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.
The wicked one is Gods enemy Satan.

Satan has set up many organizations in the world and one of them is his world empire of false religion.
This empire is made up of all religions that don't teach the real truth according to the Bible.

As I am sure you will agree , the disagreement between religions , their money extracting ways and their willingness to encourage war or some other evil acts obviously prove without any doubt that they cannot be backed by the true GOOD God.

These religions and their followers that have caused so much trouble in the world today , and this is not surprising when they are really following their father Satan.

So YES , REJECT THESE FALSE RELIGIONS., because Jehovah God has.

Soon will come Armageddon when Jesus (acting on his fathers behalf) will destroy ALL false religions and those in them and put away Satan.

Then war , and violence of all sorts will be a thing of the past.

Just as is written in Revelation 21 , ¨the former things have passed away.¨

This certainly will be a great time , but to be there to see it , we must prove today that we reject Satan's ways , his organizations and its teachings, and follow God in good clean worship.

I'm not sure we are 'smart enough' to get along without religion. I think that some people simply want their lives to make sense to them.
We as people always seek common ground to bond with each other, and that is the part of religion that at least makes sense to me. I doubt God, and I deeply distrust organized religion, but people must give up that organization, it cannot be taken.
It is a nice thought though. People who believe in God, and don't kill others because of it.

Promise of power and relinquish of fears is what most religions use to recruit their numbers. Both can lead to what you describe.

Peace of ones mind, and life's, beginning and end should not be obtained through any other persons persuasion. Ones fear's and guilt's should never be used as tools to spread hate. Religions often use such human emotions to gain selfishly without care of individual peace or understanding. But there are us few who respect all life, and do not except anything else. We respect others thoughts and agree to disgree when they may not be the same.

People will invent religions faster than you can reject them. There are not only the various Christian, Jewish, and Islamic cults, but there's organicfoodism, and livinggreenism, and healthism, and conspiracyism.

About the only thing we can do is precisely what we in the US have always done. Permit any religion, but strictly prohibit any forcible prostelization, if I've spelled it right, and also prohibit any acts of faith that disturb the general peace of the neighborhood.

People that believe in religion don't believe in themselves. That is what pisses me off. Can't these people understand that when you do something good, you did it? Not your imaginary friend. This world is indeed better off without religion because it does bring more murder into the world

you know that's a good question. I had this question with my friend at work and we had a lot of debate and discussion and we came to realization that it is not good to make a fun of other people religion but you ask a very good question. just know this not all people are smart like you or me or some of those who answer this question but there is a question about this also like. why are we here, what are our purpose here, where are we going from here and it there a life after death so you see a lot of people are afraid by this question and life is just circle like our planet and it just keep on circling and we never know where or when is going to stop so that why people are afraid and they are welling to believe every one who can tell them something that will make their life easier. life is like a being in a very very dark place so you are afarid in the dark because of fear and remember this life is not good or fair even if you are rich or poor so if your rich than you are lonely and also afarid that somebody might try to kill you for your fortune and if you are poor also you a lonely and needing for help. if we reject religion it won't help of our reasons for being here and one way or another that people will try to convice people to believe in them, you should know this you what NEWS if time and what happen if you heard something like American might go to war with Iran. you start to believe that and get afarid thats the same reason you know so don't get me wrong. I agree with your question because of too many religions a lot of people are dying because we can't agree on one thing because each religion says something different in believe and that lead to corruption and problem. we should believe on ourself becuase god is in our heart and within us and believe me i'm catholic and i read the bible every day but i don't have to believe every single word and i don't have to go to church so i can be forgiven but i simply don't believe that if a father or a peris said that you are forgiven that mean god forgave me for what i did. i don't believe that because he is just a human being like me, sure he know a lot about bible and that doesn't make be believe that a person can go to their whole life not been able to have sex, say bad words or do something bad like steal. i don't believe that because no body here is like Jesus. so for me i know what is right and what is wrong and not just me every one know that too. just choose one and that is your beliefs and there is a question for your and those who believe in religion too much. do you know you chose the right religion because they are too many religions and you don't know if you are going to make it to heaven because we don't know which religion god want us to follow and believe. so i will say belive in yourself because one day you may go to hell because you believe someone else and not god or you follow someone else beliefs instead of god.

if you have read the history of the world you will see how bad religion is. if you were to give this statement in most of the world you would be beheaded. be thankful that you have the opportunity to be free to choose your own path.

never stop using common sense!!!!
