Well, here's what you can do (which I do):
Check out the ingredients section of what you eat. If it includes any one of the following, don't eat it:
1) Enriched Flour (that means manufacturers stripped the food of all the good stuff that was in it, and put a little bit back)
2) Partially hydrogenated oil
3) High Fructose Corn Syrup (this blocks the stomach's ability to tell the brain it's full in time, so you'll consume about 100 more calories than normal)
4) Sugar (you're supposed to have normal amounts of sugar, but if it's in the ingredients then they added even MORE that you don't need)
Also, follow the 4 - 4 rule. Don't eat a food product that has more than 4 sugar and/or 4 saturated fat (saturated fat comes from 4-legged animals).
Building muscle also increases the speed of your metabolism & energy. Plus it shoots off endorphins (happy little hormones) into your brain so you feel better. And when you feel better, you're more inclined to do more exciting activities than watching cartoons or Oprah in your spare time.
Eat protein. Protein keeps you fuller LONGER and provides you with plenty of extra strength & energy.
You need about 50 - 60 grams of protein per day.
Snack throughout the day. Have a little snack (some almonds, raisins, walnuts or whatever) every 90 min. --> 2 hours so that you keep your metabolism constantly awake so it never slows down. If it is always awake by your snaking, it will burn more calories. It will also keep your energy levels more constant throughout the day.
As for cardio exercise, is 20 - 30 minutes 4 - 5 days of the week. And that's simply WALKING. So when you wake up in the morning go for a short walk, and there's your exercise for the day. PLUS it will make you feel better about yourself because the day barely started and you've accomplished something.
Also, if you get stressed out, take Omega-3. Omega-3 (found in walnuts & fish) can decrease your stress levels by eating enough of it 4 times a week by at least 10%!
I also eat 35 grams of fiber (a woman should eat 25 grams) for healthy bowel movements. Also, I take 1,000 mg of Calcium and 400 mg of Magnesium.
I eat tomatoes which have lycopene in them. Lycopene helps the skin heal itself and protects you against the sun's harmful rays.

Burn more calories than you eat.
Cut your fat intake.
Eat three cups of fat free low cal yogurt a day (make sure it has live cultures in it) and pineapples. This helps you break down your food and promotes weight loss. You still need to eat low fat proteins. (baked and grilled fish and chicken and beans)
Do 45-60 min. of aerobic exercise a day (preferably before you eat in the morning). This will attack the fat. Try to supplement your training with some running, running stairs or hills, and cycling. Mix it up, it will keep your body guessing.
Do 30 min of weight training three times a week. This will build lean muscle which will in turn burn fat.
Keep moving all the time. Tap you feet while at the computer, tap you hands on your legs while walking. Keep moving and keep burning calories.
I lost 40 lbs in two months and have kept it off for 18 more months doing this. I did not lose any strength and gained more energy. I also took my body fat % from 30% to 10% and my waist from 36 inches to 31 inches.
