I say same color dresses in different styles. And make sure you can get all three of them together to decide what styles the would like to have and be comfortable with. I personally think the maid of honor should have her own unique and different dress though anyway. I'm not sure what your bridal colors are exactly. But say if you are having the wedding outside maybe have the maid of honor's dress a lighter green or gold color, as she is sort of the third most important woman on the bride's side. (Bride is first and mother of the bride is second). So I think there should be some color distinction that still fits into your color scheme to show that she is someone different than just another bridesmaid. As for the brides maid's dresses themselves I suggest probably a darker color that sort of matches the maid of honor's dress. Like maybe if you did go with a mint green color for the maid of honor you could go with a bit of a darker forest green for the brides maids and maybe have them wear gloves as the maid of honor has a shawl. Just a few suggestions, hopefully that helps. And congrats on your wedding.

I actually really like the idea of different dresses. Definitely in the same color and fabric. But make sure there are similarities between them, such as the same necklace and earrings, or maybe even hair style. I think your bridesmaids will be very thankful if they are given the chance to wear a dress that actually flatters each of their own bodies. I don't like the idea that you mentioned of each having a shawl or gloves.... I think it would be too distracting. I would sit there wondering why they chose that, rather than paying attention to the bride (which lets be honest... is what all brides really want.) Good Luck on your big day!

The notion that bridesmaids should be identical clones, like matching chorus girls, is very recent. (As ever, I suspect an evil plot by The Wedding Industry to get people to blow $300 on a dress they will never wear again.) If the dresses are in harmonizing colors (like shades of pale blue), are all approximately the same length (ankle, mid calf, above the knee, etc), and agree in other matters like form-fitting vs loose & flowing, long sleeve vs sleeveless, etc, then go for it. Rather than similar dresses with variation in accessories, I'd go for variation in dresses with identical accessories. No one can complain that a shawl, scarf, or gloves doesn't suit her figure and will "tie together" the various looks of the dresses.

Choose a colour and have them try on whatever style they feel most comfortable in. far better to go with your idea and have them in different dresses, at least they will look and feel more comfortable and this will show in the photos. I was a bridesmaid at one wedding and one of the other girls had a much bigger chest than me, she was wearing the same dress as me and she felt so unhappy and uncomfortable that she held her flowers too high to cover her chest, that was such a shame for her, she spent most of the day hiding!

I had the same issue with my wedding. We solved it by doing the same material only different styles of dresses. They were the same length, but the styles were different based on what complimented the girl's shape. I was very happy with the outcome and I think the ladies were happier wearing something that they felt more comfortable in based on their size and shape.

U should make them all the same color. I like the idea of them having differ tops b/c from experience i know big girls don't like to show upper arm (stretch marks and stuff). It's ur wedding u can make it unique and i personally think it will come out great. Congrats!

I think it's an interesting idea. You could use the same fabric and color for all 3 dresses. each in a different style.
If you chicken out, then design for the big girls, and the small one will be fine. Maybe a pretty dress with spaghetti straps and a shrug or bolero jacket over it. then the little girl can take hers off for dancing if she wants.

that sounds good beside same dresses are so last season have them pick the same color and material but in the dress there comfortable in you don't want them to be unconfortable right especially with the situation your presenting, so thats your best suggestion if you want to add some different accesories go for it it hink it will look great.

Well, its a wedding after all, therefore it's better to have them 3 in a coordinated look. But due to the different size, you can have the bridemaid's outfit tailored in different designs. But use the same fabrics and colours. If colour is a problem, try different shades of the same colour.
You don't want to have a circus trailing after you ya? ;-)
Btw, congratulations on your big day. :-)
