When Adam sinned in the garden of Eden, God literally cursed the ground that he walked on. At that point in history the very fabric of the universe was cursed & creation shook with the implications of Adam's sin.
Someday the sun will grow cold, but the bible teaches that Jesus will return before that happens, while there are still people living on the earth - he will come to judge everyone who ever lived.
God does love us, that's why he sent Jesus the first time - to die and to offer the path of life to anyone that chooses to walk it. He died to pay the price for our sins so that when the judgement comes, our sins will be forgiven and we can live with God forever.
Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life - no one comes to the Father but through me"

Because we aren't the center of it. We are a mere part. Don't worry too much about the sun. We will be long gone, doubtful there will even be ancestors at that point.
I'm really not just being cynical here. It is beautiful in its own way. We are creations of the universe. We do not need to play a central role, only to appreciate being here.
I don't believe god created us. The universe created us. I don't think it happened intentionally, but that doesn't take away from the magic that it happened. It could have happened so many different ways. We are lucky to be here.
Every atom on this planet was created in a star, including the atoms in our bodies. We are star stuff. We are connected to the universe. Why does the universe need to care? We are part of it, we are not separate.

The Universe isn't hostile to us. The Universe just doesn't care.
When you step off a 3rd story ledge, the injuries you sustain aren't cruelty, just the consequence of ignoring gravity.
It's not Human Nature to accept that Nature plays by its own rules and those who don't trouble to learn them do so at their peril.
The Kipling Poem "Natural Theology" explains it best.
Natural Theology
Primitive
I ate my fill of a whale that died
And stranded after a month at sea. . . .
There is a pain in my inside.
Why have the Gods afflicted me?
Ow! I am purged till I am a wraith!
Wow! I am sick till I cannot see!
What is the sense of Religion and Faith :
Look how the Gods have afflicted me!
Pagan
How can the skin of rat or mouse hold
Anything more than a harmless flea?. . .
The burning plague has taken my household.
Why have my Gods afflicted me?
All my kith and kin are deceased,
Though they were as good as good could be,
I will out and batter the family priest,
Because my Gods have afflicted me!
Medi/Eval
My privy and well drain into each other
After the custom of Christendie. . . .
Fevers and fluxes are wasting my mother.
Why has the Lord afflicted me?
The Saints are helpless for all I offer--
So are the clergy I used to fee.
Henceforward I keep my cash in my coffer,
Because the Lord has afflicted me.
Material
I run eight hundred hens to the acre
They die by dozens mysteriously. . . .
I am more than doubtful concerning my Maker,
Why has the Lord afflicted me?
What a return for all my endeavour--
Not to mention the L. S. D!
I am an atheist now and for ever,
Because this God has afflicted me!
Progressive
Money spent on an Army or Fleet
Is homicidal lunacy. . . .
My son has been killed in the Mons retreat,
Why is the Lord afflicting me?
Why are murder, pillage and arson
And rape allowed by the Deity?
I will write to the Times, deriding our parson
Because my God has afflicted me.
Chorus
We had a kettle: we let it leak:
Our not repairing it made it worse.
We haven't had any tea for a week. . .
The bottom is out of the Universe!
Conclusion
This was none of the good Lord's pleasure,
For the Spirit He breathed in Man is free;
But what comes after is measure for measure,
And not a God that afflicteth thee.
As was the sowing so the reaping
Is now and evermore shall be.
Thou art delivered to thine own keeping.
Only Thyself hath afflicted thee!

because your making assumptions that have never happened. Who cares if we can predict the movement, what good does that do anyone? The sun will go cold? Maybe after Gods use for it is over. People get to concerned about the insignificant scare tactics of politicians.

Because looking into nature must discern between fantasy and reality to make judgments for understanding's sake .
Once the fantasy of god is stated much of the confusion disolves and understanding progresses . when the if conjecture defies the equation we look else where .
the answer is simple drop the delusion of if.

well, i think that you should disabuse yourself of the notion that the concept of god was intended to explain anything about why the universe is the way it is. instead, god is a fantasy (perhaps not purposely invented, but the effect is the same) which psychologically mitigates the fact that the universe is as you have described.

Because of the sin of Adam and Eve and God's curse on all of creation because of that sin. This is indeed a very orderly universe, but it is quickly going towards disorder -increasing entropy- for the above reasons.

The universe is not hostile. The human is.
The human wants to destroy everything natural and live in an artificial environment.
The universe was made for you. How can the universe be hostile? Nature is for your upkeep. But what do you do? Eliminate species. Plastic world.

Sin has consequences, and many people have turned from God. Isiah 6:1-4 gives us a sense of God's greatness, mystery, and power. Isaiahs example of recognizing his sinfulness before God encourages us to confess our sin. His picture of forgiveness reminds us that we, too, are forgiven. When we recognize how great our God is, how sinful we are, and the extent of God's forgiveness, we receive power to do His work. How does your concept of the greatness of God measure. The throne, the attending seraphs or angels, and the threefold holy all stressed God's holiness. Seraphs were a type of angel whose name is derived from the word for "burn". perhaps indicating their purity as God's minister. In a time when moral and spiritual decay has peaked, it is important to see God in his holinesss. Holiness means morally perfect, pure, and set apart from all sin. We also need to discover God's holiness. Our daily frustration, society's pressures, and our shortcomings reduce and narrow our view of God. We need the bibles view of God as high and lifted up to empower us to deal with all of these problems and concerns. Gods love, moral perfection, if properly seen will purify us from our sins, cleanse our minds and enable us to worship, love, be gentle, unselfish, kind and much more.
Many people are confused, and that is what the fallen Angel Lucifer, Satan, wants us to be. People think that this is Gods world and He's making a mess of it, however, Satan is the ruler of this world and is the one causing the problems. God does not want you to stay in this world. He wants us to have Eternal Life in Heaven free of sin, free of hate, violence, disease and much more. Do not continue to be confused. It is not Gods will for you to be confused, fearful, hateful and angry.

Do you think that our own enormous propensity to be cruel and indifferent towards one-another, and that there some evil power in this world bent on destroying us - has anything to do with this?
