Its not just Christians who do this. Jews do this a lot too. Its not okay to corrupt the tenets but you have to realize eventually that some of the things that are said in the Bible were said for protection back then, for example people being forbidden to eat pork, back then it was very difficult to get a fire hot enough to throughly cook the pork and therefore it caused many sicknesses that had no cure and ultimately resulted in death.
Its not okay to corrupt the tenets of a faith but you have to realize why certain rules were created in the first place and then apply them to todays world. Today it would be considered strange for a woman to marry her brother in law when her husband dies because in today's society a woman is allowed to bring in an income, back then they weren't allowed. Same with selling your older daughter into slavery, since slavery was outlawed this law is useless.
Hope you get my point.
(This is why I know longer practice Orthodox Judaism).

One must look at why the tenets of that faith exist. Some are as reasonable today as when first established and some may be outmoded.
Example: Food restrictions; Orthodox Jews do not eat shellfish – many people are allergic to shellfish and a severe allergic reaction can cause death. When the restriction was first established there was no way of diagnosing the allergy or stopping the reaction, People still die from allergic reactions to shellfish to this day.
Example: Sexual activity before marriage; even with modern birth control it is still possible to become pregnant or catch a sexually transmitted disease.
Example: Marrying a close relative - the strongest traits are passed down to offspring. Physical or mental illness common to both partners’ genes could affect children’
These are just a few of tenets that may at first seem unreasonable, but have some basis in fact.

No it is not appropriate. IF one follows a religion then any moral or ethical ideas outside of that religion are meaningless. Once you start changing a religion than it is no longer that religion. IF you are going to start chagning things about a religion to make it fit into the modern world then yo might as well just find a different religion. Understand that religions do change and evolve on their own, that is the nature of a living religion. But these things can't be forced, becasue all that does is makes things worse, usually because the followers of that religion are not yet ready for things to be changed.
So either follow your religion, or follow the mores of modern society, but you can't follow both, nor can you forcibly change one to fit the other.

Great question! 'Biblical' morals have meant something different in every age! Every generation has a new way of looking at them, and yet each generation thinks they follow biblical teachings exactly!
Do I think that's appropriate? Well, we no longer stone women who are found not to be virgins on their wedding night, I'd say that was a move forward. Parents don't have the right to kill children who sass them back. And people are no longer stoned for blashpeming, or burned at the stake for heresy. I'd say we were making some progress in the long run.
Whether we make moral progress in the short run, from one generation to another, is harder to say. But morals certainly do -change-, while the Bible stays pretty much constant.

No. It's not appropriate for anyone to change even a letter of the Holy Scripture. We the Muslims believe that it's only the Holy Quran that is and will remain unchanged word of Allah. It is He who has Revealed it perfect and Will Preserve it in its truest form till eternity.

NO! And that is the reason my family no longer attends an organized church. God is the only teacher we need. We don't need other human beings' opinions, and we sure don't need to be exposed to the greed and backbiting that goes on in the churches of modern times.

God has a memory. Those who are His want to honor and worship Him in truth. According to His Word, how we choose to do so is important to Him. God tells us not to learn the ways of the heathen (Jer.10:2) or inquire about how pagan nations serve their gods.
"You shall not worship the Lord your God in that way" (Deut. 12:31).
Yes, It is certainly inappropriate in my mind.
The "teaching" of Christianity has been to take scriptures and twist them so far that they somehow seem to promote lives of Hedonism. Its a method that makes people feel good...AND TITHE!
But....it is NOT the message of G-d.
Blessings on Sukkot
Your pal.

Any attempt to do so corrupts the scientific age not vice versa.. You need education... Why are you so naive? Could it be that you are brainwashed?

Christianity is a religion with no divine law therefore manmade laws are superior to Gods laws.
Whatever man thinks is good becomes good and vice versa.
There is no divine guidance except in the slogan of love your God and love others....... as per what society deems acceptable.
