It is true that conversion is an important part of the Mormon religion. That is why every eligible Mormon male is expected to serve a mission. Some things to understand about the Mormon religion:
They believe that the Mormon church is the one true church that has been restored on the earth.
They believe that the way to true happiness is by following God and the regulations of the church
Mormons are taught the mindset that following the teachings of the true church is the only way to be truly happy. At least this is what I was always taught- people who are not members of the church or who have fallen away from the church are seen as "lost sheep" so to speak and when they try to convert you, alot of the time it is actually out of genuine concern. They think they're doing you a favor by trying to convert you to their religion because they really do believe its the one true church
Oh and just enjoy the muffins. When I stopped going to church some members stopped by my house to bring me cookies and invite me to come back to church. I didn't go to church, but I did eat the cookies. They were delicious. ;)

How do you know? Mike Tyson might be interested.
Yeah, that's the "every member a missionary" being taken to heart while "moderation in all things" is tossed out the window. I appreciate how you recognized it's only some Mormons btw, rather than lumping us all into a stereotype.
I certainly don't do that. I think it's more important you're a true friend. Yeah, friends are concerned about friends salvation, but that's not the only thing they're concerned about.

All Christian faiths are told in scripture to preach the gospel to all people and nations. That includes Latter-Day Saints (penned as Mormons by 19th century persecutors).
It's likely that there was nothing surreptitious about the muffins. People tend to share knowledge or small gifts that they feel can bring joy to others. Telling someone of what you like and do in the hopes that they will think as you do is human nature.
He is looking for a common denominator of interest with you so that he can feel some kinship or sense of commonality with you besides your writing.
Not everything is a subversive religious plot. Take a deep breath and enjoy the muffins.

I never knew that I could convert anyone by talking about anything BUT the church!
In fact, I didn't know I could convert anyone, period!
If you don't want him talking to you at all, just tell him to shut up and move on. But, geez, God protect us from friendly Mormons!! Most people complain that, after a failed conversion attempt, Mormons turn their backs and never speak to you again!
I guess we just can't win no matter what we do.

I'm a little confused as to how you think talking about radio stations and Chinese restaurants is an attempt at conversion. I don't see the connection. Maybe he's just trying to have a normal conversation. That's what it sounds like to me. Maybe there are more details that you haven't shared, though.

So one mormon obnoxiously tries to convert you after you say no and all mormons are suddenly guilty of this.
I guess when other christians call me evil, going to hell, a cult member and tell me to repent or else I will be damned forever I get to blame you for that. Or maybe you are an atheist that tells me I am brainwashed or stupid or ignorant or clueless. Several atheists have called mormons that so I guess if you are an atheist you must be one of those. Are you a guy because on the news today it said a man raped a 3 year old. Since you are a guy and he is a guy does that make your a rapist too?
Your little statement, as all mormons do Im sure, proves just how few mormons you actually know yet one mormons actions you like to throw on the entire group. I guess I can just assume you are clueless, ignorant and lack any kind of reason or logic based on that fact.

I can't say I've ever noticed that, except for the Mormons who are doing their missionary work - but then, that's what they're supposed to do as missionaries.

Having read your other answers, I think you just have a problem with Mormons, period! This man could probably not do anything right to suit you! If you dislike him so much, move to another department, or keep it to yourself!
I was bragging today about most atheists not being as judgmental, like most christians are! I guess I was wrong! There are judgmental atheists, as well!
too bad!
