1. Tell your boss about the ticket. Do not pay it for her. Do not let her pay the ticket either. The citation will be on your driving record, not hers.
2. Call the Bakersfield traffic court. Explain the situation to the Clerk of Court. That person can not void the ticket but she/he can tell you what process to follow. This is not an uncommon occurrence with photo tickets and they should have a procedure in place.
3. You may have to go to court. Bring any receipts or other documents you might have to show you were not even in town at the time. Be nice if your boss called and owned up to the violation, but don't hold your breath.

There is usually a form where you can report the actual driver included with the ticket.
If not, call the department that issued the ticket. They will give you the documentation you need. It may require your boss to admit driving the car. However, proof you were in Vegas should be good enough. A hotel, airport, or credit card receipt should do it. Your boarding pass would be best, it requires a picture ID and would be difficult to dispute.

The beauty of those kids of tickets, is they're a civil fine, not criminal. They cannot prove you were the driver, nor can they arrest you. They can however turn off your utilities until the bill is paid. Fight the ticket and hopefully it will get dropped. I suggest if you would like to avoid this again, paint your license plate with a clear reflective paint. The camera will be unable to read your plate because of the glare.
So go to the judge or clerk and tell them your story. They cannot prove otherwise, so you have a good chance.
Good luck!

You were responsible for the car, you are responsible to ensure the ticket is paid. Take it to your boss with a smile, and point out it is her ticket. She doesn't even know about it until you tell her, it would be a camera ticket that has been billed to the rental company. I'll bet she pays it without any problem. If you don't pay it, the rental company has to, and they will go after you for collection of the debt.

Not let your boss drive a car that you rented is my first advice.
Was she listed as a driver on the rental agreement? If she was, go to court and show that you were in Vegas that weekend and could not have been driving. Hotel room receipts/credit card receipts shoudl prove the case.

You need to talk to your boss because its his mistake. If worse comes to worse, I would appear before the judge in Bakersfield with proof showing that I wasn't in Bakersfield at the time. The reason why I said appear before the judge is because that speeding mark will most likely go on your record.
*sigh* Our system is fooked up. Perfect example.

Send the ticket back to the same adress (keep a copy). In the envelope add proof of your trip to Vegas like the hotel receipt or
you plane tickets or something like that, tell them that you will be glad to pay it but it will be very kind from them to reconsider the case. Feel proud of your system , they still trust people.

WRITE TO THE COURT THE ABOVE INFORMATION. GIVE HER NAME AND SINCE YOU WERE IN VEGAS, SHOW THE COURT RECEIPTS, PLANE TICKET? HOTEL ROOM, CREDIT CARD CHARGES, TIME FRAME SAME AS TICKET--HARD TO DENY TRUTH OF THE MATTER AND THEN GIVE YOUR BOSSES NAME AND ADDRESS FOR CONTACT IN THE MATTER.
