As a side note, I would like to ask those of you that pray to pray for him or those of you that meditate, to meditate for him, or anything. I may not believe in prayer, but I believe in positive energy and I hope any positive energy out there can reach him. On to my original question (if some nazi doesn't have my question deleted for the above comment)...I'd like to hear some words of wisdom that I could send him to help him get through the next time period in his life. Thank you very much!

Cheir: to elaborate too much would give away too many details about myself, but to expound a little bit, this is someone close to my heart that did make a mistake and he is serving his time. I ask for positive thoughts concentrated towards him learning from this experience and that he doesn't let his punishment change him for the worse.

Messiahskin: I'm sorry but you can't prove that god exists anymore than I can prove that "positive/negative energy" exists. It's what gets me through the day though. Thanks for using this question as an opportunity to try to beat down someone else's beliefs.

Give him words of love and encouragement. Tell him to keep his head up, tomorrow is a new day.

Have you ever seen the movie the Ten Commandments? That movie was not based on fiction but facts. And this energy your speaking about does not exists but God Almighty, the God of Abraham, Issac and Jabob, does hear the cries of His people and Just as He opened up the Rea Sea to deliver His people from Pharoah's Army, He will deliver and help anyone who puts their Trust in Him..But if you do not believe in prayer, then, You do not understand getting help from God. Jesus says, When you pray, BELIEVE that you RECEIVE it and it SHALL BE given you. If you don't pray, you get nothing. If you don't believe, you get nothing. If the Children of God didn't get going and move their body to get to the other side away from their problem, then their enemies would have killed them, so, it is today. If you don't apply faith, your problems will over take you in life and one day you will find that all doors will close except the one that leads you to Almighty God and as for your friend, Prayer is going forth on their account but God's greatest concern is their relationship with Him first. As with yours,.All else is secondary..

Support your friend with compassion and love that you can offer. Advice him to go for regular prayer and make some new prayer meeting friends to broaden up his mind. Ask him to open up and start talking of what is in his heart. Time comes. he will be free of this bad experience. God Bless.

The meaning of life is for us to discover that we are true children of an infinitely loving and merciful God, to find out what our responsibilities are to our Creator, and to fulfill those responsibilities.
In His infinite goodness, God could not keep all to Himself the happiness of existence He enjoyed in heaven. Just as we may love our pets very much, cats and dogs are just not able to share with us the happiness we feel from music and sunsets and Super Bowls. Only our children can do that. This is why God had to create us as His true children. But complete free will is the essence of His nature. So we, His true children, also had to have complete free will, only without the infinite power and wisdom. That makes things difficult. That makes it possible and even likely for us to refuse to accept God's authority.

I know that this sounds kind of corny, but my mom used to have a pocketful of anecdotes like: "Every cloud has a silver lining." Sometimes these sorts of sayings really work. Another is: "you never know what's around the next bend in the road." And this one: "The road to true love is a rocky one." Or: "You've got to stop and smell the roses now and then."

Actions speak louder than words. Sometimes its best to just keep your mouth shut and be there for a person. There are no words that can replace a loving hug and a kind smile.

Is you friend dying? What about being ill?
Your friend's tough time may be useful to him later in life.
Before you ask for prayers, make sure you need them.
Answer: Praying is good, but being there is better.

I would encourage him by assuring that God is and always shall be in control of things no matter how it looks from our perspective.
All things happen for a reason and when we trust God He will give us a 'peace that passeth all understanding'.
A good Scripture is 'All things work together for good for those who love the Lord'. I will interceed for your friend. God Bless.

It's kind of hard to make concrete suggestions without having some idea of what he is going through. Medical, economic, personal?
