I think some of you may have misunderstood my question. I am not really complaining. I realized when my husband joined that it was not for the money and money is not the most important thing. I was simply making an observation. I love my husband no matter how much money he makes. I just don't think it's fair that other people get paid more to do less.

You made a valid observation in your earlier post. Unfortunately, the military will never be paid commensurate with the risk they take.

being in the military (as I am) we understand that our jobs in civil service will never be competitive when it comes to pay compared to the commercial sector. We join to serve, and we do that. Guys that stay in love what they do, and those that only do one tour fulfill the obligation that best suits them. Anyone joining the military has to understand, it's not for the money, and if it is for the money, it's how to get out between a rock and a hard place to either move on, or retire from a rewarding career and then move on. The military isn't like any other line of work, and it never will be.

It's not really a question of what is fair or not fair, it's a matter of what an employer is willing to pay someone. Athletes get paid high salaries because team owner are willing to pay them that much for their services, and in the hope that having them on the team will generate more revenue for them and of course win championships.

P.S. From one who as served, I thank your husband for his service to our country.

I didn't see it as complaining. I saw it as a statement pointing out that military is one of the lowest paid professions.

Three of my kids are in either the Guards or Reserves and one is active duty Army. They sure don't do it for the money.

Y/A is about questions and answers not about observations, you have a beef about your husbands pay in the military, then I suggest you take it up with your local political personality.

WE know the military is low paid its the same the whole world over. Nag, Nag, Nag, will not fix the situation but maybe it helps you feel better about your postion while married to the Green Machine.

Oh great idea bring in a union, what then a strike???? or work to rule, can imagine that happening in Iraq.

"Hey Fundamentalist's, dont I.E.D. and R.P.G. us from Monday to Tuesday cause we will be on the picket line demanding better conditions from Georgie"
