I asked something similar to this a while ago, but I was just wondering whether Mormons home schooled their children. Apparently, it's only the fanatical Mormons that do this. Probably because school presents a great opportunity to get some more converts. To counter the anti-Mormon knowledge that Mormon children are bound to encounter, they have bible (Book of Mormon) study sessions before and after school. Kind of like a boost to their anti-knowledge defenses which is essential in maintaining the delicate equilibrium of belief over knowledge for Mormon children.

I don't know anyone who is homeschooled or was homeschooled, I am Mormon and live in Utah...
The topic of sex: Hmmm.... our parents don't totally shelter us - at least mine didn't. I am sure some do, but we are supposed to teach our children that sex is something special and sacred and should only be shared between husband and wife. We teach our children values and morals and hope that they will make the correct decisions. Every teen out there faces that, not just the mormons.
Shockingly, to the rest of the world probably, us Mormons keep our sanctity for marriage... for some reason, the world sees this as weird and strange and impossible. The world's ways are not God's ways...
How do you keep kids away from sex, drugs, lying, stealing, cheating...anything that is a temptation? Well, you don't. You teach them right from wrong and hope they will make the correct decisions!

Latter-Day Saints (sometimes called Mormons, a former slur) are not forbidden to know about sex. Whoever led you to believe that is not very well-schooled on our faith and should read more.
For all Americans, homeschooling and private schooling are growing alternatives to a public educational system that's gone from 1st to 41st worldwide since 1970, even though we fund our schools better than any other nation in the world.
We keep kids away from pre-marital sex, drugs, alcohol, shoplifting, and other things that can screw up a child's quality of life not by homeschooling, but by the same path as in every religion and culture:
good parenting.

Let me see (ex-mormon here) some mormons are home schooled. Most mormons are allowed to goto their seminary class during school hours, as for sex-ed class, if it is not in UT, mormon country, the only thing mormons worry about, is the Bishops kids who are 95 % of the time the jackmormons, otherwise, the mormons slam virginity into their youths head, modesty is strict and pior preussure to be a goody-goody mormon is very much a pior pressure thing.
In the chirstian church I am in, most of the kids I know are homeschooled, it is up to the parents to teach the kids.

I was raised Mormon and I went to a public school, as did almost all of the mormons I knew. I also took sex ed. Maybe you are thinking of the Fundamentalist LDS groups. These are splinter groups of the LDS religion that live in small communities and are extremely conservative. They don't believe in owning televisions or reading the newspaper because they are told by their leader that they need to stay away from the ungodly influence of the outside world. They are taught at home or in small schoolhouses by religious leaders and are taught that sex is dirty and is only to be done for procreative purposes.
But these groups are just small cult groups, and not affiliated with the mainstream Mormon church.

You say that public schools are just recently teaching sex ed. It's been around for years. I went through it a few times, 5th, 8th, and 10th grades.
There is nothing wrong with knowing about sex. In fact, I plan on discussing it with my (future) children. If they don't hear it from home, they'll hear it somewhere else. It is subject often viewed as taboo in a lot of religious homes (not just LDS) when it shouldn't be.

Whoa wait. I was never homeschooled and I was born in the church. On top of it, I grew up in the east. I've never been farther west then Nauvoo.
The church does not, and I repete, does not, encourage parents to keep their kids ignorent of sex. What it says is that parents are to teach proper conduct. That sex is between husband and wife. It's an expression of love and for the procreation of children. Parents also teach their children to make a decision now as to what kind of life they want to live.
These correct principals are taught so when children do hear the stories from friends and peers, they are not confused as for what's right and wrong. They know the truth and they can hang on to it when they're out on their own.

Who said our children are not allowed to know ANYTHING about sex? That's a new one!
My kids all went to public school and (thank goodness! because I was never notified) their sex ed was very good. My daughter made the transition from girlhood to woman hood quite seemlessly. My daughter, who is now 16, knows everything and well enough not to get into a situation where she could get pregnant or diseased or whatever.
Most Mormons are smart enough to know that, as far as sex is concerned, the more you don't know, the more trouble you can get into.

I know you are being sarcastic but I just want to point out the flaw of your sarcasm. Mormons believe not in forbidding knowledge of sex but instead not practicing sex until lawfully married. I am seventeen, LDS, and I have never had any sort of a sexual relationship. This is a result of my parents gentle guidance to follow the Lord's commandments and be chaste. If you are living righteously with God's guidance, immorality is simply not that hard to resist.

You're assuming all kinds of things that are not true.
By your other questions, it looks like you're obsessed with sexual discussions. It sounds like you can't get yourself to talk or thing about anything else.
No....Mormons don't have to home school their young.
No, Mormon youth are NOT forbidden to know about sex.
Mormons teach that sex is good, but should reserved for marriage (ya know....teen pregnancy, aids, other STD's, emotional trauma, higher divorce rate....all nice things aren't' they).
As for keeping them away from sex.....um....keep your zippers up.
....and whatever your source of information is....change it. It's wrong.

Where do you get your info from????
Mormons are highly encouraged to complete as high an education as possible. It has one of the higher percentage of college grads then other religions in the country. We are taught to go to college, gain job skills and to continually search for all kinds of education and knowledge.
Mormons dont believe sex is wrong or bad. We just believe it is to be done within marriage, but after marriage do it all you want.
You are either highly ignorant of mormons or just trying to be a total jerk.
tellthetruth why dont you focus on your own faith instead of trying to tear down that of others
what an incredible waste of time
Is there nothing better you have to do, like serving others?
