I have a 2000 Mazda B-3000 (Ford Ranger) with the 3.0L V6. It seems really weak, I know it only has about 150hp but it also has about 35,000 miles on it. Could my engine be wearing out? I bought it used so I don't know how well the previous owner took care of it.

As an automotive technician I've been privileged to test drive a lot of these trucks and.....a....sorry. They are all like that. The good news is if you don't think about it then it won't get to you.

That seems unlikely. I would give it some TLC. Tune up, all filters, make sure the oil has been changed recently, maybe add some fuel injector cleaner. Little invesments like this do add performance and economy to any vehicle.

With the mileage on the engine, I doubt that it is worn out. If you have a concern, then take the truck in and have it checked out and have a compression test ran on the cylinders.

Good luck with it.

real tough to answer without knowing some basics.
do a diagnostic test, including a compression test, and fuel delivery test, to get an informed idea of what's going on.
Also check the catalytic converter/exhaust system too.

odds are that the engine is not worn out. might need a tune up though. remember you get what you pay for. if you go cheap you get cheap. also check your air filter. hold it up to a light if you see good light it should be ok. if you see a little light time to change the filter. go k+n if you can.
