Some fundie that answered my last question stated this. I just about fell out of my chair laughing. Has anyone else ever heard of this. Do any other religious fundamentalists believe in this?

One famous study, was conducted in 1901 by physician Duncan MacDougall, who sought to measure the weight purportedly lost by a human body when the soul departed the body upon death. MacDougall weighed dying patients in an attempt to prove that the soul was material, tangible and thus measurable. These experiments are widely considered to have had little if any scientific merit, and although MacDougall's results varied considerably from "21 grams," for some people this figure has become synonymous with the measure of a soul's mass. The title of the 2003 movie 21 Grams is a reference to MacDougall's findings.

That was measured back in 1900 on dying tuberculosis patients. Somebody had to estimate the precise time of death while another person read the scale. Then they accepted a weight they thought was accurate. Very scientific.

I wrote an essay about science with the human soul. This urban legend originated with McDougall (I believe). It has been throughly debunked many times.

Somehow though, it maintains as absolute fact to those who preach the soul being tangible and therefore measureable

I'm pretty sure that the amount of soul you've got can't be measured. Besides, if it could, shouldn't it be more than a measly 21grams?
