I saved the bird, but now I dont know what to do! There's no place that's open for me to bring it and I'm clueless. Right now it's in a cardboard box thats lined with towel. The bird have a towel over it(not its face), and its in my shower. The bird flew around a bit and it cat lift it's head up fine. I dont know what I'm supposed to do, I need help.

And dont tell me I was supposed to let the bird die. I also know it wasnt my cat's fault I love him so much and I will never replace him. He was just doing what cat's do.

It's just his instinct. Cats are hunters. Don't sweat it. Remember Disney's Lion King? Cirlcle of life stuff there.

DO NOT LET THE BIRD GO. It will not survive. Find a box with a lid, put a towel in the bottom, put the bird in and close the lid. Do not put a towel directly on the bird. Be sure that there is a breathing hole. Place the box in a dark room... somewhere your cat can't go and finish the job.

Of course you shouldn't let the bird die, but your time is running out. Cats carry a bacteria (Pasturella) that is DEADLY to birds. The bird will prbably die in less than 48 hours. You need to get the bird to a wildlife rehabilitation facility ASAP so they can start it on a course of antibiotics.

Go to this web site to find a wildlife rehab near your -

If you cannot find one near you, call your local vet office and tell them you have a wild bird that was the victim of a cat attack. Ask them for a local rehabilitator. They may even be able to administer the first antibiotic shot at the vet office. If your vet office is closed, stay on the line till their answering machine message starts. Listen for the after hours emergency number and call it.

Since you are a cat owner, this is a must read -

No, it wasn't your cat's fault. It was your fault. You don't need to "replace" your cat, you just need to be a more responsible pet owner. There are laws about letting your pets kill other animals. You, as the cat's owner, are responsible for its actions since the cat obviously doesn't know any better.

hi, I incredibly have a cat and became cautioned to make him positioned on a collar with a bell linked. i think of it particularly is marvelous cos even tho the cat can nonetheless stalk, while it makes its attack the birds will pay attention the bell and fly away. i know its no longer your cat however, in case you dont experience in a position to point this on your neighbours then perhaps purchase a collar with a bell on and supply it on your neighbours for him (make up some tale approximately how plenty you like the cat and couldnt help paying for the collar once you observed it - made u think of of him???) lol sorry if it sems rediculous, cats will choose for birds no rely what you do yet its no longer nice to video show. stable success

I agree with RAV...get the bird to a wildlife rehab for it's best chance of survival. Also, think about not letting your cat outside as domesticated cats are responsible for the death of MILLIONS of songbirds per year just in the US alone. Your cat was only doing what comes naturally..that is why it should not be outdoors. Look for a rehab here and more info about cats and birds:

Take the box outside, remove the towel and the bird will probably fly away as soon as it feels safe enough to do that. You did the right and caring thing but now you have to let nature take its course and leave the bird outside where it belongs.

If a bird is not part of your cats diet, your cat would not know how to eat it. It will swat the bird and gingerly sniff it.

Leave the bird inside that cardboard box for another hour or so. if it will fly on its own once it reorients itself, it will be fine.

take the bird to the vet wen it opens. cats have an enzyme in their saliva that is harmful and possibly deadly to birds same with dogs...for now just take care of the bird till you get it to the vet but dont try to clean its wounds with alchohol or anything if you must clean it... use purified water it stings alot less wich stinging to us is very hurtful to birds

If the cat caught the bird outside then set it free outside. Put a bell on your kitty kat so that the birds will be able to escape.

as soon as the vet is open take it in there. but otherwise keep it warm as it will probly be in shock, and keep it in a dark place, as this will help keep the bird calm, good luck!

If you love your cat then let the cat have the bird. You said it yourself, it's what cats do.
