firstly talk with your gf. ask her what her poblem with her ex and see her situation. if he really need your protection then you protect her to proof your love with her. and then see what the problem with her ex. why he do that? talk he nicely. tell him that between he and your girl is past time. now i'm her boyfriend. then if he want to fight with you, you fight back.

to much baggage. she is not worth it. she has a bf and she is with you. so think about it. she will cheat on you also. and then want her new guy to beat you up. the never ending cycle.

You should not fall for it. You do not have any personal enmity with her b/f. No guarantee that she will not persuade her next b/f to fight with you.
