We got our pit to stop by using the 'soft bite' technique. WHen she is biting you, put peanut butter on your arm and tell her some kindof command, we used 'kisses' and she will lick instead of bite and eventually she iwll come to know 'kisses' or whatever you use means to lick, not bite. We had to tach our pit this because he liked to uhm, chew on my cat. but now he gives him 'kisses' instead of biting his tail. and as for chewing on your stuff, if its furniture use vinager spray on it, shell stop real quick.

He's been taught that its a game. When he does it, walk away - say nothing - do not make eye contact. Wait a minute or so then initiate an approved game. It won't take long for him to figure out the new rules.

Tons of exercise will help tremendously, as will practicing NILF with her (if unsure please research NILF training). Do NOT give in to attention seeking behavior, instead ignore her completely if she cannot show you the behavior you wish (which would be sitting calmly for attention). Once you walk away from her, give her a second to calm herself and then try again. If she exhibits mouthing again, ignore her again. Trust me, Pits are smart and long to please their owners, it won't take long for her to figure out what you want from her.

Watch the Dog Whisperer if you can or log on to his web site. This guy is fantastic and has been such a help with my dog who had a bad case of small dog syndrome ( attacks all other big dogs) and now he just ignores them.

Maybe you could give her another toy with your scent on it?? You should give her a shoe or something to nibble on. Make sure it is clean and do not let polish get inside her. Polish is very dangerous and can cause death.

well i think it is teething b cuz when my dog was about that age it would rip up lots of things. it should go away, probably a phase, if not make sure that you keep away stuff that she can rip up!

Give her a treat every time she doesn't chew something you don't want to be chewed.

How about bringing her to obedience/training classes? :D A professional would be better suited to train her to behave better and go easy.

ok, one thing that worked for me it to tell her no when they bite, and also... get the skin where there upper and lower lips met, and push that in with your finger. they are not going to hurt themselves, but they realize that they are biting themselves than you. hopefully it will work for you like it has for me.

p.s. i love pits!
