ok when i am really mad or frustrated, because of family, friends, school, whatever, i sleep. I dont run for the razor, or call my best friend to ball my eyes out and complain. i simply fall asleep.
when i wake up i feel better and i have a clear head to think about what happened. I have always found that this is the best way to solve problems.... since like....the first grade.
Recently a friend told me that sleeping when you are angry is a sign of depression, and is not healthy for your being emotionaly.... I do this at least 3 times a month...
am i depressed?

for the record: im a very happy person, i have no thoughts of death by my part. I have lots of friends, and i only feel down when something reasonable happens (i.e. loose a friend over fights, pet dies...etc.). i just think this is a great way to deal with stuff

bottom line: Can this potentially hurt me in the long run? or can i keep on sleeping?

When you can sleep easily it means that nothing is bothering you at all. It further means that you have a healthy conscience. Sleeping is much better than confronting your problems hastily without pondering about it first. If the problem you think that caused you to feel sleepy is a difficult one, don't worry. As a matter of fact, it is not a problem at all. Good luck.

There is nothing at all wrong with taking a nap to clear your head. It is very healthy, because you are able to see things clearer without all of the anger or confusion getting in the way of a good solution. If you spent hours and hours sleeping and not wanting to socialize, bathe, eat or take care of yourself, then you would have a despression problem.

No I don't feel you are depressed, however you are at higher risk for depression. I think what you are doing is shuting out the outside world so that you can focus on the remedy at hand. If you isolate yourelf over a long period of time you will do more harm to yourself than good. You are just different so just beware.

No, you are not depressed. Keep on sleeping. If you were sleeping all the time and still feeling mad, sad or upset when you wake up that would be different.

i doubt you're depressed just because you nap when you're upset.. you're not doing anything destructive.. simply taking time out and resting to feel better..
sadness takes a toll on your body and sleep is how the body re-energizes..
at least you're not off hurting yourself, other's, or property..
and you need to have more than just one symptom to be depressed.. such as loss or gain of appetite, loss of sex drive, isolation, loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed, etc..
personally i think you're fine.. however if it worries you ask a therapist or doctor and get heir opinion..

It will definately hurt your relationships. If my hubby did that I'd go mad. You need to face your problems. Did your mum teach you this? Or Dad? Try to break the habit by facing your issues. Then resting.
