Just as the answer above stated. It is caused by a rapid drop in blood pressure and you should see a doctor about it.

I have the same thing. There are a lot of different names for it but my doctor diagnosed me with instable vascular( i think another name may be vertigo??). ( this means that blood is not rushing properly to brain/ or because of gravity there is not enough blood/ oxygen there) Its nothing to serious and it is quite easily treated and it is also pretty normal. It is often occupied with either fainting or dizziness when standing, it could also be from low blood pressure.
Yours does sound a bit worse then mine was so it would definately be a good idea to see a doctor just incase it is something neurological or anything else.
In the mean time try and stand up extra slowly as this will probably help)
Good luck and remember... GO TO A DOCTOR

There are a variety of reasons you could get these. I get them, too. You could have very low blood pressure, poor circulation, dehydration, extreme fatigue, in need of nourishment, low blood sugar, or a combination of these. It could also be something else, maybe a symptom of a more serious medical disorder. You should probably talk to your doctor about it. Chances are, it's nothing serious, but you'll want to be sure. And here's some advice for when you feel a "head rush" coming on, to shorten it and relieve the symptoms: when you first feel the symptoms of a "head rush" coming on, if it's possible, sit down on a chair and lower your head to below knee level, and remain in this position until it goes away. When you attempt to stand up, do so VERY slowly. If a chair is not available, you can bend down (from your waist) until your head is lower than your knees. It's not a comfortable position, but it will help. Again, when you rise, do so very slowly. If you start to feel the symptoms coming back, lower your head down past your knees again. Don't try to rise until the symptoms are completely gone. This should keep you from fainting or "blacking out."

Good luck!

You should go to the doctor right away ... You could have a heart problem.... the reason you black out is your blood pressure drops as you stand... It can be very serious.... You should at least call a nurse and visit with her about it...

First see your doctor fast.
Second it might be hypo-tension or extremely low blood pressure.
Third it could be diabetes.
Fourth it could be a stroke.
Fifth it could be nothing.
Let the doctor run all his tests. Tell him honestly all your symptoms.

I am hypotensive, I get dizzy standing up, turning my head to fast, tripping on the rug, looking up to fast and a dozen other ways. My doctor has me on medication and has taught me to slow my sudden movements down.

it could mean a lot of things..
i experienced the same thing and i was found to have allergies.. but i know that i was tested for mono, diabetes, thyroid problem, and anemia..
you could possibly be dehydrated.. but then again it could be something much worse..
i would go see your doctor and get it straightened out.. better safe than sorry..

sounds like orthostatic hypotension, this is a severe drop in blood pressure when you stand up too quickly. Try standing up slower and see if it makes a difference.

Has to be something to do with blood pressure or these episodes could be mini strokes. Get tested straight away.

It happens to my wife, too. She has low blood pressure. You SHOULD talk to a doctor, but it might also be good to check out vitamin supplements to help strengthen your blood.
