My MIL made the statement to me today that perhaps my son's Asperger's Syndrome has to do with God being dissapointed in me because I'm Wiccan. She also told her son that when he was in a car wreck she believed that it had something to do with her faith not being strong enough.
Is God really that cruel? How can poeple worship that? If your faith is not strong enough, or is mis-placed, I (God) will take my wrath out on you, through your child. How can this be a 'just and loving' God?

Thanks Ariel~ I know she didn't mean to cause pain, she just stated her Xian beliefs, f*cked up as they are. She normally is a loving, sweet, kind woman. What she said just knocked me SO off gaurd that I haven't known exactly what to think since.
Seeing what all these 'lions' have to say has given me pause though. She's not evil, or hateful, just misguided. I haven't talked to her yet, my hubby has, she said that she was hurt that she hurt me. I guess I'll talk to her tomorrow and see how things are.

OH Whillow, what a cruel and stupid thing for her to say to you, I don't give a shyt what the hell her damn beliefs are! Even if she really thinks that, and she is apparently dumb enough to actually think so, she should AT LEAST have the COMMON COURTESY of keeping her stupid and horribly rude opinion to herself.
vent vent vent!!!!!!!
I have an Asperger's child and I am a pagan Witch and I KNOW they have nothing to do with each other. If there was a god, giving an Aspie a good home should be first priority, and who better than a pagan, a Wiccan, or a Witch? None finer as a mother.
Don't listen to her. I know a lot of parents of Aspies who are very nice and who just happen to be as Christian as they come. What the hell is god thinking then, giving an Aspie to a Christian??????????? Her logic is so f*cked up, she might as well be from goddam Mars.
Ignore her. We love you! And Josh is a blessing.
so are you

NOT AT ALL!!! Your MIL needs to be slapped; hard.
I'll give you the Jewish perspective on sin because I'm Jewish and that's what I know. Others can jump in with their perspectives.
Firstly, "sin" is NOT something to freak out over or feel crazy guilty about. You're not going to some place of eternal torment because you've sinned. All "sin" means is that you've made a mistake. In order to make right that mistake, you apologize to the person to whom you've hurt (whether they forgive you or not doesn't matter so long as you were sincere in your apology) and work to not make that mistake again.
Secondly, in Judaism (regarding Jewish adults and children, obviously) the child's sins/mistakes are the PARENTS' responsibilities until the child reaches spiritual adulthood -ages 12 or 13 respectively. Then the sins are the responsibility of the children.
None of this means that your son's Asperger's Syndrome is your fault or his. We're HUMAN.. Make sure you tell your MIL this. I'll repeat it for good measure. WE'RE HUMAN. We have to deal with human pain and suffering all of the time, and this includes disorders and illnesses. It has NOTHING to do with sins whether they be those of the adult or the child. It's unfortunate that your son is dealing with this and that you're having to go through this pain, but it's part of being human.
G-d is not that cruel at all. Your Mother-In-Law is that cruel for making that statement toward you and as I said before, she should be seriously slapped for it, physically preferably, but verbally if that's all you or your husband are comfortable with.
You just concentrate on being who you are and the best mother you can be, and don't let yourself get wrapped up in the pathetic explanations people like that have of life. All that will do is make you miserable. :)

First to clear any confusion: each person, including children, is responsible for his own words and deeds. God does not punish the children for the parents’ sins, or vice versa. Your son’s illness is not because God is disappointed in you and He wanted to take it out on your child.
However, a parent’s sin does limit God’s hand of protection over the parent and her children, and therefore evil has legal right to touch the family. Wicca, which is a cult, is against God’s word, and therefore this would be legal grounds for the spirits of Wicca to play havoc in your family. Now if your child was a Christian and he prayed for God’s protection over him and you, that would be a different matter, but if your child is simply under your spiritual guardianship, evil has access to your child as well, because he doesn’t know that he should pray for protection.
As for your MIL and her statement that her son was in a car wreck because of her weak faith, I don’t know enough about the situation to comment sufficiently, but what I can tell you is that God does not make someone’s son get in a car wreck because her faith is weak.
Going back to your situation, it seems to me that God is trying to get your attention. You’re asking people about Him and His ways, aren’t you? Knowing God, I know He loves you and your son, and wants to protect and take care of you. But He would be limited to do that if you don’t want His help. I hope you respond to Him, and be blessed.

wow...that is horrible...
This is yet another reason why i am no longer a Christian. There are sooo many things that christians cannot agree upon, it makes you really question how anybody can believe something sooo contradictory!
I am soo sorry that you had to go though that experience...I am an Athiest, and am constantly being told by people that im going to hell, and that anything bad that happens to me, is because i dont pray....but, I just tell them that **** happens, oh well, some people dont change...
best of luck to you!

This is one woman's viewpoint, and perhaps it is her own lesson in life to learn and complete. She needs to ask Jesus to remove this primitive outlook she has, and ask yours and her son's forgiveness for the harm she caused. This isn't what Jesus would have done and I'm sorry she said this to you. May I repeat, God is all loving and is NOT about harming His creation because of a vindication. He also is more merciful than any of us can understand.
I'm writing this to share that true believers follow a powerful Love much higher than this. And that everyone has their own path to follow. There are reasons unknown to us as to why events happen as they do, but they do not happen due to a lack of faith or sins of parents/children/lovers/friends. They happen because they are meant to.
May Love fill your heart, God Bless you : )

I don't really know what being a "wiccan" is, but if you don't trust in the LORD, is anything his fault? I think when you open your life to spirits it not a good idea. Seek to trust in the Lord Jesus.
Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Romans 5:2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we [ Or let us] rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

Biblically speaking, it does happen in the Old Testament. However, Jesus came to wash away all of our sins. Down to the individual person. Jesus has given us each blessing and each curse to be a choice. But the truth remains, what you reap is what you sow. If you plant a seed of destruction, destruction comes forth. If you plant of seed of faith and trust in God, blessings come forth. I have a special needs child as well. But I don't blame God. I have to believe that God chose my family to take care of my son because he knew we could handle it. This is just a part of life. These things happen. I can't blame God.
I pray that you don't mistake a loving, caring, nurturing God for the misguidings of other people. I believe that God has surrounded you by Christians. God is trying to get to you. Don't be discouraged. Ask God to reveal to your heart the truth in this matter. You might be suprised to find that there are many Christians out there who have delt with witchcraft in their own personal lives. Jesus' grace covers all things, and extends even to you. I pray that you can see that Jesus doesn't want you to suffer but wants you to hand over your suffering to him and let him bear the cross.

I'm with you, if Godd were so cruel, I'd have a hard time respecting any deity that would punish others for one person's actions. IMO, Godd is not like that at all. IMO, Godd only punishes or rewards a person for their own actions, a.k.a. karma.
