Joan of Arc saw and heard the voices of angels or a angel telling her to lead the French in the war against the English. She followed what the voices told her and if she hadn't there would be no nation of France as we know it. She died a painful death rather than deny this.

plenty of crazy people accomplished great things. Espescially in a time period where being crazy (hearing gods voice) was considered possible... lol

It depends on what group you are talking about. Many countries in Europe are majority atheists. If you are talking about the planet as a whole, not single religion has a majority. Christians make up about 1/3, and Muslims make up roughly 1/5 of the world. That is slightly over half. Atheists/agnostics are the next largest group, making up about 1/6 of the world, followed by Hindus at slightly under 1/6. To prove herself to the king's people, she predicted the outcome of a battle and to prove herself to the king, she told him of a prayer he had made. She must have been right for the king to have believed her. The church did extensive research on her, not long after her death.

Yes, and she was nuts. As you can see by the current occupant of the White House, being nuts (and in his case, stupid) does not keep one from public office.
