Lilith (Hebrew לילית) is a mythological female Mesopotamian storm demon associated with wind and was thought to be a bearer of disease, illness, and death. The figure of Lilith first appeared in a class of wind and storm demons or spirits as Lilitu, in Sumer, circa 3000 BC. Many scholars place the origin of the phonetic name "Lilith" at somewhere around 700 BC.[1] Lilith appears as a night demon in Jewish lore and as a screech owl in the King James version of the Bible. She is also apocryphally the first wife of Adam.

According to some Sects in Judaism there was a woman who was wife to Adam before Eve. According to those traditions her name was Lilith and she was created from the same dust that Adam was. As such she considered herself to be his equal and was disobedient and strong willed. Those traits made her unacceptable as a mate and she was cast out of Eden to be replaced by Eve, who had been made from Adams rib and as she was a part of him, she was therefore more obedient and subservient.

Most sects of Judiasm, Christianity and Islam reject those tales as fictitious or even heretical, but there are a few that accept them and have incorporated them into their teaching and worship.

As an aside, the Lilith story was 'borrowed' by a certain live action role playing game and she was cast as the original vampire who created all the others.

yes the name is Lilith and she was not human though but she was a woman. She was created before eve was as adams equal and it did not work from what I read and she was cast out as everyone else is that betrays god and so he made eve of adams rib so she would be more submissive and not like Lilith,

Some myths say Lilith is who Caine meets when he wanders into Nod and has children with her. SOme other myths also say she is a succubus and or the first Vampire along with Caine.

So there are many interesting stories to read about it. Check out that name Lilith and you will see what I mean.

Have fun!

There seem to be quite a few stories related to "Lilith". In general the idea is that she was created just after Adam and was created out of the same soil that he was and was as large and as strong as was.

They were happy for a while, but then Adam demanded that she submit and be subservient to him. She continued to refuse until she got tired of the constant conflict and left the garden of Eden.

According to different stories she becomes and evil witch (note the distinction, not just "a witch" but an evil one suggesting that not all witches were evil) or she became a demoness living in a cave who killed children soon after their births as revenge.

And I read one account where she was supposed to have had an affair with Cain when he tried to seek sanctuary after being marked by God.

There are a lot of stories about her, and other ancient figures that are associated with the name "Lilith".

Yup.

The oldest fossilized remains of a human more like hominid was found in Africa.
Her name is Lucy. The bible says that Eve was a human being. Lucy was a hominid.
Last time I checked hominids came before human beings, because hominids evolved to become human beings.

Lucy existed before Eve.

Lilith was Adam's first wife before Eve. Adam married her because he became tired of coupling with animals, a common Middle-Eastern herdsmen practice. Adam tried to make Lilith lie beneath him during sexual intercourse. Lilith would not meet this demand of male dominance. (You go girl!!!)

Lilith, though i have no clue where this comes from. Supposedly Lilith was created along Adam, but she didn't want to submit to him and left, later she became the wife of Cain.

Are you talking about Lilith?

According to Jewish tradition and lore, Lilith was Adam's first co-equal creation who was the uncontrollable, rambunctious type and didn't want to be subservient to Adam.

Or so the story goes...

Peace be with you.
