I'm not planning to go, but it's just a crazy question. I have no intention of going to that hellhole, but if I WANTED to, how would I do it, and would I get let in? I do kind of look like the natives, but I don't speak a lick of Arabic.
Would I be horrified at what I saw?

Yes at first! is horrifying? you get used to it? It is the background of bush and that Dick, cheney dormancy?
I recommend it to all who never seen such horror !!
Specially the ones that still believe Fox or bush?
It is interesting to see the look on their faces when they suddenly wake up?
Little danger here or there, but if you get trough it , you will be a humble, kind and caring human for the rest your life.
It is 21st century, we don't need military for every country?
A Planet Earth Peace Guards P.E.P.G will take care of security and peace on earth. Military for countries are becoming a tool in the hands of the murderers, greedy, coward and power hungry animals like that D, cheney and bush.
There is no need for that in civilized world.

You'd have to go somewhere overseas first. Then fly there. The US does not fly to Iraq. I don't even think you can go to Kuwait. Maybe you can, I don't know. If you did manage to get in though, they would know you were American. They would most likely kidnap you and/or kill you. It doesn't matter that you look like them. It's not safe there. Maybe they would try to recruit you, but I doubt that. I don't even think you'd get in though. If you did, the government would know you were there before you even got there.
Or you could join any branch of the military and go.
Would you be horrified at what you saw? Not until you got into a combat zone...or an area that has been devastated by the war. I haven't been over there though, so I can't speak from experience. It is a very poor country though. It's a hostile country. What do you think you're going to see? Daisies and a bunch of wealthy people roaming the streets? I don't think so.

The quickest way to get to Iraq from Detroit is to get in your car and drive on down to Dearborn. It may not be real Iraq, but it is about as close as it gets!
Seriously, though, you'd have to decide what kind of job you want in the service (Choose Army Infantry 11B for the quickest route to Iraq).
You can fast-track to Iraq now with HUGE BONUSES! Seriously...nice big bucks that you can't get working nearly anywhere in Detroit City.
In about 2 weeks, you'd be in basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia (now is a great time to go! Not too hot, not too cold). Throw on the Airborne option so you can jump out of a plane and earn your wings, go to Fort Bragg as a duty assignment, then go to Iraq and hopefully you can get jump pay on top of all the other stuff you are getting! :D
If you are 18-20, there is hardly another job out there that is as exciting and pays that damn good. Join for 3-4 years, get the GI Bill with the kicker (Worth every dime) and when you get out...get paid to go to school.
Just don't get shot up in the process. MOST people are not getting killed in Iraq, but it still is a dangerous place. Out of all the troops, you probably have a 1 in 1000 chance of getting injured to do combat over there. Those are not bad odds considering Detroit isn't the safest city either.
Plan on moving somewhere better upon your return.
Good luck in your decisions. I was in Iraq. The mainstream media is making it to be worse than it really is. I'm not saying something unfortunate could happen, because it does nearly every day to groups of troops.... but it isn't like Vietnam where thousands were killed every month.

Get to Kuwait, then you can hire someone to take you into Iraq. Joining the Army would be faster and cheaper.
Yes, you would be horrified at what you see. As Americans, compared to some other countries, I feel we are very sheltered from horrific scenes. Seeing mutilated bodies, limbs blown off, heads hanging from bodies in movies are one thing, but seeing it in person is totally different.

Depends where you would be stationed. If you were in the front lines, most likely some of the things you saw would turn your stomach. If you were a REMF, I doubt it.

Easiest way to get there...volunteer to fight for freedom with our troops. You get a bonus by helping to rid the planet of terrorists, and GI Bill bennies when you get back. Did I mention the free travel arraingements from the military airlift flights ?
