Yes. You need gold. That is why the studs that are placed in ears when pierced are 100% gold. I have the same problem. I also wear white gold because it looks like silver.

It depends
Surgical steel body jewellery can cause a reaction in some people due to the nickel content. This can also be true of gold jewellery due to impurities found in all gold no matter the carat. Because of this, the use of titanium jewellery is strongly recommended for the initial piercing. Once the piercing has healed this can be replaced with steel, gold, silver or any other inert material
However, I once did an experiment by wearing silver plated earrings for one week, and 100% gold earrings for another week. I found that when I wore the silver earrings, my ears started to itch and it got swollen and red. However, nothing happened when I wore the gold earrings. Also, I know many persons who have purchased gold items in order to heal and soothe their infected or irritated piercings, and have been successful. Therefore it really just depends ... because different people have different reactions.
Hope I helped :)

You have a nickel allergy. Nickel is found in a lot of steel and in white gold. Yellow gold contains traces if any nickel. Higher gold karat (14 or 18kt) would be good.
Titianium is also a great choice as it is 100% hypoallergenic and biocompatible.
It could also be from being pierced by a gun...a lot of people have issues with their ears due to excessive scar tissue from gunned ear piercings.

You have the same prob I do.......the answer......you cant wear the cheap stuff. The reason your ears dont hurt when you wear your gms rings is because they are real I know it really sucks, but thats the way it gos sometimes. I know this sounds crazy, but if you want to wear the cheap stuff (like I do sometimes) use clear nail polish on the part that goes in your ear. It doesnt work forever, but it last long enough to get through a day. Just make sure the polish is dry.

Yes gold will help.
If you have a Claire's store at your mall, they sell ones that will not break out your ears. Just look around and look at what the earrings say. If they say "Sensitive Solutions" then those are the ones that will break your ears out. If you don't know then go ahead and ask somebody who works there.
