You'll have to get a cat carrier and secure him safely inside to make sure that he doesn't run away before you move. Only you can know just how many days or hours this may take for the cat to be secured in a room before you place him in the kitty carrier to take him to your new place. If you don't do this, you risk leaving him to the elements alone where he would surely starve to death, or die some other terrible death. Look out for your cat, only you can take care of him and make sure that he's safe.

If you move and take the cat with you and let it outside your new house, he won't have a CLUE what's going on. He won't understand that he has a new home now. He will run away and try to go 'home'. There's really no way around it. You will have to contain him for several weeks in the new house, garage, screened in porch, etc. He will need time to forget his old home and learn that this is his new one.

You will need to keep him in the house for about a week so he used to the smells of the house and yard. Before you move put Advantage on him and deworm him so there will be no problems in the new house Show him the kitty litter and he will use it if you bring him to it a few times. You might have him come in now for periods of time so that he gets used to being inside.

i know exactly what you have to do. when we moved once we let our cat outside and he ended up leaving. he went from our new town to our old one. the new home owners ended up calling us and said i think your cat is on our porch, and sure enough when we went to look there he was. so we had to keep him inside for at least a week or two. just have a litter box for them and lots of love. once they know that you arent leaving they will be okay with being outside. just give them a little time and everything should work out! hope this helps! :D

I have moved cats may times with no problems. Where ever I am, that's where they want to be. But if you are worried, play it safe and keep it inside till it knows that this is it's new home.

Outdoor cats can convert to 100% indoor cats just fine. It's too dangerous to have them be in a neighborhood they don't know and expect them to be ok outdoors. Just take him indoors, see if you can get an outdoor kennel done for him, or take him on leash. You do have options.

your going to have to have in the house... because they can scense that stuff... and they think that you are abandoning them so they WILL run this happend to one of my friends as well... so make sure that you keep him/her in a room for a while. IT will suck and seem mean and the cat will get pissed... but it is better than haveing it run off right?

You will have to lock him in the house for a week or so. Otherwise he will try to find his way back to "his" old house.
