I sometimes think there must be something unique about the Human Being as a lifeform, that is also our common denominator as the Human Race.

I don't know if it's physical, spiritual or something else.

What do you think?

You can take any two humans from anywhere in the world and when it comes down to DNA we are 99.9% identical. It doesn't matter what race the two people are its always the same.

Also humanity has morals built in. We are capable of performing good acts to help others - with no gain for ourselves. This couldn't have evolved into our makeup as evolution works on the principle of survival of the fittest. If i save a stranger from drowning, putting my own life at risk to do so and am not seeking any reward for my actions, it doesn't aid in my survival at all.

Its these selfless acts of compassion and love that are truly indicators of Gods image.

The devil is the mirrored image of the hell we wade via in out on a regular basis lives. God is the author of all issues stable. each thing has a objective and a reason. God is love. He leads and we persist with.

What an interesting question....... Never stoped to think of the *human race* this way..... hmmm..... have read all the answers you have gotten so far, and I agree with most of them..... We are well built forms, with bodies different than all other creatures on earth, spirits, souls, thought process, emotions, feelings, and the ability to destroy more than build........ We are capable of such evil, we kill to kill, and hurt others for power......... We are capable of love , but we are NOT the ONLY creatures capable of that, but we ARE capable of spreading love, to other humans and to the animal world alike......... There are so many traits we ALL share........ go in peace........ God bless

yes many things in common as we are all the creation of God
what did God mean by image.
you know if you were to set down and think about how you wanted to plant your flower garden and you decided that you wanted tall yellow flowering shrubs in the back of the garden and then red mums and so on it is then your image of your flower garden after you have gotten the image you start to plant when you are done planting the flower garden you stand back and look at the beautiful garden that you created from your image.
just something to think about.

Yes, it's physical and spiritual and something more... and discovering this common denominator(s) is the key to experiencing the unity that connects all beings, human and otherwise.
There is something that everything has in common with all that is, but it seems we must discover it for ourselves, one relationship at a time. (or must we?)
Is it true that we all want to be happy?
Could it be something that simple?

the common denominator that unites us on a spiritual level, as well as makes us unique is complex- as is the meaning of 'made in the image and likeness of God'

it is our ability to:

consciously evolve or ascend towards enlightenment- (these things and more shall you also do...)

to Create, ~ to literally have the same creative power as God in this sense...to create our life experiences, to manifest our desires, and to procreate physically

and ultimately to Be Love, Be Joy, Be Peace

on a physical or energetic level- we are all connected, part of the One Soul,

literally- there is no place where one soul ends and another begins, think in terms of auras or your energy body- it is more dense and 'visible' around your physical body, but is eternally connected to the Divine...separation is an illusion

Physical appearence.......

With the Image of God whom is Jesus Christ, God is telling His believers that one must attain an image that is of the "likeness", as a bodily figure to enter into His kingdom. Anything less of that would be incomplete and no good in the eyes of God, because anything that is incomplete is wickedness.

Agreed with many of the answers so far. My hunch is that when we are describing people and/or qualities of God that the possibilities are endless.

The question brings to mind one of the wishes of the apostle Paul - to know the hight and depth of the love of God.

The commonality of the human race is that all people have a free will. God intended for us to make our own decisions. It is this free will that guides each individual and is responsible for their actions. This is why God sent his Son Jesus to die on the cross. You have a free will to accept this as truth and have faith or you can decide not to follow and suffer the consequences of your actions. Each person can make his or her own destiny.

The one thing all of us have in common is Spirit. We were all created in the Spiritual image of God.
