Probably won't be as you think...there are just a slew of Cubans who want to return to their homeland.

Immigration from Cuba will come to all sides of the world, not just the US. Although people in Cuba live in poverty, they are not homeless and are some of the most well educated people in the world. I don't think anyone is going to leave that fast. Besides, Miami Cubans, want their land back or at least that is their fight against Castro. If so many of their relatives were back in Cuba, then why would they need to work on strengthening the embargo so much. Cuba is the most beautiful place I have been with millions of tourists from different countries, just not the US. I just hope that the US does not pounce on Cuba with our policies because there are many countries who believe Cuba is an amazing land for opportunity and will do great things for the country. Some Cubans will immigrate to the US but not most. I have seen the spirit of people in Cuba and with Castro dead, they would want to stay in the land they love!

They Cuban Adjustment Act of 1959 that allows any Cuban that sets foot on land can stay no questions asked, will never be revoked for many years. After Castro is gone there will be a power struggle between those on the island that feel that because they suffered the most they should control the island, the Miami Cubans will not only have the backing of the USA and large sums of money to rebuild the island. I live in Miami, and many make no bones about wanting back their properties back, whether they are able to get those properties back will be a matter of contention. Maybe a civil war, or the Miami Cubans will pay off many of the poor Cubans on the island and with the money looking for a better life will too come to the USA . I would put my money on civil war because those that stayed are not about to give back the island to the families of those who fled in 1959

I don't know.
I do know on the news a couple of nights ago that Castro's Brother who happens to be in charge at the moment. Went out into the streets, and made public announcement to the people of Cuba to come and have talks and discussions on what problems they need to fix in the country. Cubans have so far told him that the wages are too low for them to earn a decent living.
Some Cubans have said it's just a way for them to fix things for a while, and then ignore them until they become problems again.
While others are hoping that the Cuba Leader is really ready to have these discussions, and talks, and really fix the problems for good.
Castro's Brother has said that they will be realistic when addressing and fixing the problems. As they would not be able to fix them all.

I think that a lot of Cubans will want to go back to Cuba.
I was in Viet Nam a few weeks ago. Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) is booming, and expensive homes and apartments are sprouting up like mushrooms. I understand that sales are brisk, and that most of the buyers are wealthy overseas Vietnamese people coming home.

I feel that change is coming to Cuba, The old guard will soon pass on. New progressive form of government to take over Keeping the best of the Socialist programs and incorporating Capitalism to improve their economy. I think a lot depends on the actions of the US. The US should lift the economic embargo and let Cuba evolve on its own. I do not think their will be much of a Exodus from Cuba. If the American Government does not instigate violence.

All Cuban who reach American soil are considered refugees and thus automatically granted greencards. Cuban Americans have had incredible impact on nation policy making and people like Lincoln Diaz-Balart will more than likely keep the policy when Castro dies. Cubans vote and vote a lot in Florida, they have had incredibly policy impact.

I really don't think it will be that bad. When Castro croaks, his brother will take over and it will be business as usual.People trying to make boats out of '57 Chevys to get here and once they do,they will be able to stay.Cuba is very nice (my anthropology classmates go all the time),so it wouldn't surprise me if it becomes the next tourist hotspot of the Caribbean also.

Reality is immigrants are needed for the jobs others do no want to accept, a lack of them has caused many smaller companies dependent upon them to fold. At least they are willing to work contribute to the economy and are not on welfare using up our hard earned tax dollars..people need a chance. The USA was built on immigrants, and will continue to need them to stimulate our economy.

90 miles of shark filled water.... not too bad. Besides, tens of billions of dollars worth of investments are going to pour into Cuba when Castro gives up the ghost. If they can't make a go of things no-place can.
