His eyes look like they have a bluish tint underneath them like he's dehydrated or sick. But he's neither, it seems. He had a cold two weeks ago but this just started three days ago. He doesn't have a fever, and he seems totally fine (laughing, playing, lots of energy). What could it be? Does this ever happen to your kids? Should I take him to the doctor, even if he doesn't seem to feel badly?

Has he been getting enough sleep? Sometimes lack of sleep can cause dark circles underneath the eyes. He could also possibly be lacking some type of vitamin. Take him for a visit to the peditrician, or just call your pediatrician and ask them about it and ask for any suggestions. Also, a lot of the times that area looks purple or blue on a lot of people becuase the skin is thinner in that area.

Do you mean circles under his eyes? Just past the lower eyelid about 1/4 of an inch?

Low Iron. My daughter is the same way. There are a few websites that can tell you which foods are the best, but the popular ones are oatmeal, beans, meat. Also vitiam C helps obsorb the iron so give him OJ with breakfast. Have his iron checked, it is so simple and can make a big difference.

My 11 year old was like that, it turned out to be allergies. I'd just mention it to your pediatrician the next time you're in for a routine visit, unless he develops a rash, cough, fever, seems lethargic or begins wheezing. Good luck! :)

Could be he has extremely fair skin. Also, dark circles under the eyes can also signal allergies; and, it's the right time of year for it.

My nephew gets that when he eats too many strawberries or grapes. Sounds like it's just a slight food allergy

My nephew gets that when he eats wheat or dairy, since he has an intolerance to these foods. You can try a food elimination to see if anything changes.

Maybe he's just tired. Tired kids can look like that. Or maybe he's not eating right, and getting too much crappy foods. That can do it too.

My kids both do that still and so do I. It could be allergies. Have it checked. Very simple to do.
